And, if any school leaves the WAC from this point on, that school will be replaced with a football playing school. No need to add non-football playing schools anymore; unless it's Gonzaga... that's joke.

You sir are correct. I would wager money that TAMUCC was offered WAC membership many times over the last 8 years. Probably Oral Roberts too. ORU is fine in the Summit, TAMUCC might wish they would have taken those WAC offers in a few weeks.

i'm kinda wondering what...
Metropolitan State University of Denver
Colorado Mesa University
University of Colorado-Colorado Springs
...are thinking now that the TX-4 + more are potentially joining the WAC...the CO schools could've been part of a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC)-4 to join the WAC with Dixie St...

Probably not even giving it a second thought. D1 isn’t for everyone and it shouldn’t be.

Yes, and two of those schools don't have football so they would be no help to the WAC.

If those schools had agreed to join the WAC at the time, the conference would have taken a completely different direction and both Dixie State and Tarleton State would not be a part of the WAC now. And, the conference commish would not be working to add the Texas Four and Southern Utah currently. The WAC would have been strictly a basketball conference based out of mostly western large cities. The fact that these previous school invites chose not the elevate their respective programs to D1 status forced the WAC to look at other means to grow its membership. The additions of Dixie State and Tarleton State gave the WAC a new direction. And, if the Texas four and SUU choose to join the WAC, this conference will be the most stable it has been since just before Boise State chose to leave; triggering the the mass exodus following their departure.

Nope. Every WAC related thread has to include multiple posts about UT-Dallas and Azuza Pacific from people who don’t even watch WAC games or have a real interest in any of the teams.

It’s college sports talk. Tradition matters, and this board has lots of it.

Exact same thoughts. Well said, actual WAC brethren. Forget pandemic / social distancing fatigue... I’ve been feeling expansion conjecture fatigue since long before the Lancers were a glimmer in Hurd’s eye.

It's not college sports talk. It gibberish, fantasy, nonsense, waste of time BS. When there is a legitimate rumor about a school joining the WAC, let's discuss it. I prefer to not discuss TAMUCCXYZFWIW playing "the long game". Azuza Pacific joining in FB even though they just dropped their football program. Colorado Mesa joining even though they publicly refused an invite.

Here is my list of schools that are legitimate to discuss, by category ranging from most to least legit. Yours may be different.

These schools have acknowledged an invite and/0r their board has charged the president with negotiating/decision making authority to accept.

Southern Utah
Stephen F Austin

Multiple sources have reported these schools have been invited and have not denied having received an invitation

Abilene Christian
Lamar
Sam Houston

At least one source has reported these schools have had conversations with the WAC. Several of these schools have said they are not interested at least at this time and/or they are not high priority WAC targets.

West Texas AM
Central Arkansas (football only)
Augustana
Weber State
Northern Arizona
Northern Colorado (possibly football only)
Colorado Mesa

These schools may or may not have been approached but are logical targets based on the WACs desired footprint and/or desire to sponsor football

UC Davis (football only)
Cal Poly (football only)
Sacramento State
TAMUCC, based on a proposed merger with TAMU Kingsville that has been publicly discussed.

Gibberish-

Central Washington
Angelo State
NMSU dropping down to FCS
Tulsa
UTEP
Portland State
Any number of other FBS, FCS or D2 schools

RE: If the Five new schools are added
Yes, most of those schools are valid, but we don’t need multiple threads and every thread turning into an expansion thread or guys pumping in their ideas of which schools should join.

RE: If the Five new schools are added
The only "real" discussion on WAC expansion is the facts and rumors surrounding the addition of the Texas 4 and Southern Utah. Other than that possibility/probability, poster on this board should not be creating fantasy WAC alignments that do not exist... by removing current members from the WAC or creating scenarios where the most obscure of schools could join the the conference by aligning the stars. On this thread, I made a list of "potential" schools the WAC could be interested in "if" a school left the conference; nothing more. I did not going into specifics of how or why a school might leave the conference in the future. And, maybe for this group of posters; "the conference alignment theorist", that might have been a step too far on my part.
