I hope you're right, as long as its someplace BETTER. As bad as CUSA is, there are worse options. If it gets us in a multi-bid basketball league somehow, I'll be happy. Your "next year" comment makes me think you anticipate something quickly.

I can't think of any worse options personally. Worst case is basketball lands in another 1-bid league, but everyone will be closer and attending the conference tournament will be possible.

I'd rather be in the Big South. ASun wouldn't shrink the footprint much so I don't think we'd move there... though I would like to be in a conference with Liberty. Just personal preference I guess. Also assuming that in any move football stays FBS.

RE: ANOTHER REASON TO GET OUT OF THE C-USA
I wonder if there is a way to go the old CAA route, and make CUSA a football refuge for a bunch of teams that are in a conference that is a more reasonable fit for their remaining sports, then maybe repurpose one of those conferences that is about to fold out west to turn it into a new regional basketball conference. That, of course, assumes that we wouldn't be able to get into A-10 after dealing with the football problem.
If we could find a home for FBS football and then build a basketball conference with Charlotte, ODU, JMU, Marshall, WKU, MTSU, W&M, CofC and maybe a couple others, that would be an ideal situation for me.
Edit: That would be an ideal situation assuming that A-10 and AAC are not options.

I'm sorry, but you can't say that you "know" something and follow it with something you "believe" will happen. You either know it or you don't. Otherwise you are just stating that you "know" you have an opinion. Just like the rest of us.

RE: ANOTHER REASON TO GET OUT OF THE C-USA
Id be OK with staying in CUSA for "football only", like Navy is with the AAC. I just want our basketball someplace better, and our other sports in a situation where it doesnt cost a fortune to send them to games. I have no desire at all to be in the ASun or Big South for hoops. AAC, A10, CUSA and maybe the CAA are the only conferences outside the P5 that I would consider.

I guess an easier way to achieve my goal would be to just add ODU, Marshall, WKU, and MTSU to the CAA for non football sports. I could live with the resulting CAA at that point, and think it could grow in strength the way the old CAA did. It could be proposed to CUSA as the only option to save the conference.
Edit: Shoot, I forgot Charlotte and that would make too many teams, so bye MTSU.

Welp. Guess I just have to boot one of the northeast CAA schools while I am dreaming up fictitious leagues that have basically zero chance of happening lol.
