We need more shots for Justin Amadi

Seems like every game we shoot 40% or less, while he shoots 75% FOR THE SEASON

It looked like we were in Game 1 again. We need to schedule games to make up for what we lost heading into CAA play. Hopefully the game against Alice Cooper can help shake off any remaining rust.

Coach By confirmed after the game that he does not have a rotation yet and nobody knows their role. It seems as though he Is making some decisions though.
Mensah - doesn’t like his passive play
TJ Taylor- doesn’t like something but hard to put a finger on it when he doesn’t play
Jacobs - senior big is only playing 13 minutes per game. Probably the best post defender if Mensah isn’t going to get better
Christmas - only 3.5 minutes per each game he has played.

We knew there were too many players to please them all and feelings would get hurt. At least practices should be spirited if everyone isn’t getting an equal chance to prove themselves in games.

The Dukes desperately need legit competition games and not these sissy DII/DIII games. I’m hoping Coach By gets something Scheduled prior to the New Year as tomorrow’s meeting with Alice Lloyd is the last scheduled OOC game. You would think with 7 years as a head coach he would have some strings he could pull.

The HC can pull all the right strings, but with COViD and other teams schedules being what they are at this time I would say it isn’t simply a matter of “knowing somebody”...at this point JMU has lost previously scheduled games against GMU, ODU, MD and FL. This season is just snakebit.

Pretty predictable the tone of Harts posts early on in the Mark Byington era- ya know questioning rotation scheduling etc during a time when JMU has been challenged by Covid and all. At least Hart isn’t blaming Coach B for Covid...yet.

We should go back to the archives and observe the tone when Harts boy Matt Brady was in charge. That hair cut had some kind of magical hold over Hart I guess.

Coach By played 12 guys today, throwing TJ Taylor out there for 2 garbage minutes at the end. That seems strange too and I know Mettlen wrote an article about it, but he is one of 5 D-1 transfers coach By handpicked and he started for Wyoming yet is not a part of the guys getting a chance to prove themselves in OOC.

I hope the Dukes are Fired up for Alice Lloyd tomorrow. If she doesn’t bring her 4 sisters to play the Dukes should have a great chance to win. Alice Lloyd. This is another college I have never heard of in my life. Bizarro world.

I hope with Fredericks we don’t have another Cam Smith on our hands. The real question may be can Fredericks paint? ?

With VCU and LSU cancelled because of Covid, VCU may host JMU on Tuesday. Would be good if it worked out.

I am thinking Fredericks issues are academic not injury. If it was an injury, it would have been reported. Academic issues have privacy protections and are not talked about in today’s times. My guess is academics are why he has transferred so much.

Not so sure about that - he sat out last year as a red shirt transfer and you could say that the last two transfers have been due to coaching changes (Cincy and UAB). In the past injuries haven’t always been reported. When I checked with Mettlen he made it sound like everyone was healthy including Fredericks but it is odd that he hasn’t played. He supposedly is starter caliber on a team like JMUs so we need him out there as soon as possible.

More likely that JMU will add ODU or Mason during the conference season like on a Wednesday. I think Coach B wants to give the guys some time over the Christmas break and to allow for testing prior to the conference season. Maybe though now that 12/22 isn’t a trip to Gainesville and instead to Richmond JMU could play one more before the January Caa start but I doubt it since I wouldn’t think they would want to play on 12/24 and it didn’t sound like they wanted to play the week between Christmas and New Years.

Of the two Mason looks pretty full pending a cancellation but ODU doesn’t have anything between 12/22 and 1/1 when they are scheduled to travel to Florida International. It would be great if they could give the guys (mostly local) from 12/23-12/26 and try to play on 12/28 against ODU. This team needs to play every week at this point.

Mettlen tweeted earlier today he didn’t go to ECU bc of an injury

Any chance of picking up a game at Richmond while we are down there? Not sure if they have reached their limit.

Harvey, Vado and Fredericks all out with injuries vs VCU today.

Ecu beat Tulane and is 7-1. They are good and JMU lost to them by 10 in their first game after a month long Covid pause. We lost by 1 to a Vcu team who’s only losses this season have been to West Virginia and Penn State. Our team is still gelling but we clearly have some talented players who can compete against good teams. I believe that translates well in this years Caa.
