Chips get a huge QB Transfer
Jacob Sirmon from U of Washington. Former 4-star recruit. Back-up past two seasons. 3 years of eligibility I think. Could be an impact player.

How much longer are they going to patchwork the entire team? It’s got to be a little demoralizing to have like 100% of your offensive leaders be castaways.

"huge QB transfer"
Umm...okay
They've been trying to band-aid their roster with transfers for years, especially at QB. It hasn't helped them. They need to recruit and develop better talent, or they will continue to have roster turnover issues.

We have seen this transfer before at CMU... and last time we saw a transfer CMU QB... we lost at home.

Yeah, he backed up Jacob Eason at WA. Coming out of HS, #1 ranked recruit in State of WA, #12 ranked pro-style in the nation...sounds like he’s worth a shot for them. Bet Pimpleton loves it.

This is a good get. Multiple years of eligibility and he was wanted by a lot of schools including P5. Wanted to go somewhere he'd almost certainly start.

Honestly I wish we picked up more transfers in key roles like Central. I think it's worked decent for them & they rely on it. Imagine what it could do to a team like us that doesn't have to rely on it. We kind of saw it this year w/ Jefferson IMO.

Dear Broncos,
I agree with Colin. The Central website was excited that former quarterback Moore was going to be eligible. So, which is it? One could argue that it's good to have competition, but I can't believe this Washington transfer is coming to Central to sit the bench.

Moore basically sits for the past 2 years than gets passed over for the QB job if the WA transfer get it. Bet Moore won’t be a happy camper next season. I think there is a risk to the continued use of the “transfer portal” solution at least team chemistry wise.

Morris led us to 8 wins and Dormady/Moore led us to the MAC Championship. It’s not the ideal way to build a team, but Bono left this team without a legitimate D1 QB and our committed QB flipped to Toledo when he was fired. The added bonus with Sirmon is that has 3 years of eligibility remaining.

Apparently Moore has to pass another test prior to the start of next season so it makes sense to have another option because Richardson and Brock aren’t it. I still expect Moore to be the starter next year. He will have been in the offense for 3 years

I think Sirmon will be a decent-to-good MAC QB. But I also get the feeling that McElwain is trying to win NOW and get out of dodge. The huge influx of transfers, the lack of engagement with the local community, taking interviews at other schools...it just doesn't feel like he's building for the future. Same thing Alford did, CMU is just a pit stop.

RE: Chips get a huge QB Transfer
There are a couple balls in the air here...
As noted above... I really think that Mcelwain is trying to do everything in his power to win and move... You don't build depth or long term success with constant transfers. But the QB has some time... so this feels a little more like a great opportunity for both parties.
We just need to continue to keep our foot on the gas against CMU.

That’s likely accurate, but realistically that’s the case for most MAC schools. If a coach is there a long time, it’s usually because they’re not sought after. I’ve come to grips with the fact that we’re just a stop along the way for a coach looking to find a better opportunity. If you win while at CMU, I can deal with that fate.
While he has brought in transfers, I don’t think that’s strictly his MO as there have been some solid recruits added. But his job is to win games and he has utilized transfers to plug some of the deficiencies. I’m definitely not going to complain about the QB additions because that position was just awful after Bono left. He put all of his eggs in the Poljan basket and he wasn’t suited to be a college QB
