He's so bitter that his pupil Monty Scott didn't work out here. It's so weird. Guy isn't even a Temple fan.

Mousy didn't want to see Scott depart as Temple needs him.

Temple stlll needs to upgrade it’s center position.

A very unimpressive performance, as Portland State loses to whatever Northern Arizona is. James Monty Scott fails to record an assist in 27 minutes of action. Poor shooting from 3 as well.

RE: Temple’s men’s 2020-2021 basketball season
Three years ago Temple averaged 75. 8 ppg in conference pla some 3.1 ppg more than opponents did (72.7 ppg). This positive per game scoring margin resulted in Temple having a 13-5 conference record.

In McKie's first season as HC, Temple was outscored by approximately 4 ppg and finished the season with a 5-10 conference record. And in Mckie’s second season Temple again was out scores per game, and Temple finished with a 4-11 conference record.

In order for Temple to not incur another 4-point scoring deficit, Temple needs to commit less turnovers than their opponents, and either have a better offense or defense so they are not outscored on two-point shots.

Temple wasn’t able to sign a big who can contribute immediately this past season. As Sage Tolbert, an undersized center recovering from an injury couldn’t play.

Key to next season. 1) Signing a big man that’s better than either Forrester or Tolbert.

4-2 odds that Hicks split his shorts jack-knifing his jump shot.

Worse thing that can happen to Temple-no player transfers out.

No, I’m not. Hicks is an excellent shooter. Just has weird kick out on shot. Lighten up!

Temple Brandan Barry, a 45 percent three-point shooter, should shot the ball more than once every 5 minutes of playing time. Should have been shooting once every 2.5 minutes. That’s on the HC.

I’ll Dre Perry if he does not return. Never allowed to show his best. Should have been told shoot the ball far more than he did. Is a far better player than Rose.

RE: Temple’s men’s 2020-2021 basketball season
So proud of James Scott this year. Finnally got to play PG at PSU,, a poison that I’ve always maintained was his natural position.

In conference play, he averaged 31 mpg, 15.5 ppg, 4.9 foul shots, 5.3 rebounds, including 1.7 offensive rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.8 steals, committed 3.1 turnovers, and 2.6 fouls per game. Shot 35.7 percent on three’s in 14 conference games.

His 1.7 offensive rebounds per game is impressive for a PG as is his 5.3 rebounds per game.

Would have had less turnovers if only PSU bigs could catch the ball, and would have had more assists if PSU’s bigs could finish inside, and his teammates could hit three’s, and Tgevteam had fast-breaked more.

Scott had two straight bad conference games shooting three’s. In the other 12 games Scott he averaged 42.8 percent shooting three. He also averaged averaged 3.1 turnovers per game but only 13-points we’re scored off his turnovers. Scott scored 25-points off his steals. He did shoot poorly at the foul-line He needs to get back to shooting 85 percent on foul shots as he did at KSU.

Scott started the season as PSU’s starting shooting guard, but after PSU lost to Weber State by 28-points,he was installed as starting PG and led PSU to a 2-point win over Weber State.

In his next start against NCAA tournament bound Oregon State,he brought PSU from a big half-time scoring deficit to put PSU ahead by 1-point on a 3-point play with 4 minutes to go, only for PSU to trail by 1-point before losing the game. PSU lost but Scott was the high scorer in the game scoring 16-points.

In conference play, Scott had an excellent defensive rating of 94.5 points per 100 possessions.

You seem to care. Can’t stop mentioning him. Temple fans do care how former Temple players are doing.

RE: Temple’s men’s 2020-2021 basketball season
One huge reason Temple fell from being ranked 60th in the nation under Dunphy to now being ranked 120th under McKie, is because Rose, NPL, Dunn, Battle, and Williams, all shot 2-point jump shot at 30 percent or lower.

Mckie should have had his better shooters shooting those shots.

I called for Temple to shoot more three’s or for players to drive to the rim more, as Temple shoots better from those spots, but such fell on deaf ears.

No wonder Temple can’t even average 68 ppg. Till Temple brings in better shooters, Temple’s future is not bright.

It’s ridiculous that Temple’s opponents shoot more three’s than Tempe when Temple has Brandan Barry a 45-percent shooter on three’s. He was totally under-utilized.

There hasn't been one comment about Monty Scott this year on Owlscoop. We pretend he never played here.

My understanding is that JPL left because he was told he was not going to be a starter this season and was going to come off the bench. Good athlete, poor decision-maker.

Your understanding was incorrect. He was constantly getting into it with the coaches and his teammates. Needed to grow up.

I’m on the pessimistic side of the ledger going forward. Not impressed with last season’s roster.
