HP is just as young as us, so, can't blame it on less experience. We let a 5'8" 139 lb freshman, who had scored 9 total points in their first 5 games, score 12 points on us. From what I saw, he could not have started for my intramural team....Not a good day. Gotta move on and get a lot better.

I plan to remove this game from my mind and not think of it again.

Only positive comment is that FLO telecast was technically better than last season...Dwyer and Colley are a good combination.
Bobby did a much better job speaking directly into the mike in the second half.

MBB Game 4 vs High Point Sat 12/19 2PM
At this point in this strange season, I’ll give our freshmen a free pass on everything, so will focus on some positives:

- Yuri is such a good finisher at the rim. A few times in the 2nd half we saw the flashes of Yuri from previous games. Was also impressed with his distance shooting in the 2nd half. As he matures, I think we’ll see a very strong freshman season and Tribe career.

- Jake is aggressive and has a great motor. He hasn’t clicked yet - this was another rough shooting day for him - but I think he’s gonna come around in conference play and have some 10+ point games.

- Kochera has more game than just 3-point shooting. Had a few impressive takes and finishes in the 2nd half. I’m excited to see what else is in his game.

- Wight plays hard. It appears he has a good offensive skillset though we don’t seem to have any flow in our offense to get him into position to do anything. Not sure if he’s not being assertive enough or if we’re not game-planning anything for him.

And now for our older guys...

- No excuse for Scott’s play today. None. Will be interesting to see what Dane does with him moving forward. He barely played in the last 10-15 mins.

- Blair’s 10 rebounds were nice - and I like his hard-nosed play - but was also a no-show offensively. This is the kind of game where we need Blair to step up early on when his team is struggling.

- Harvey disappeared after a great first 3 games of the season. I was trying to see if HP played him differently. I think the main issue was that our sub-20% 3-point shooting meant that they could keep their guys packed in on defense so Harvey wasn’t able to get many offensive rebounds and got no offensive production otherwise.

- Luke is our best player by a long shot. He has a high floor each game because of how many ways he can now score ... solid outside shooting and really good drive/score skillset too.

I don't think we've played a good team yet. Let's get the UVA game over with and focus on the conference games.

High Point made tougher shots than we missed. Just weird that we would be that bad with the looks that we were getting. High Point dictated the game on defense; if we hit some of our open looks we would have made them change it up. I'll echo what others have said, we'll have some long, ugly games if the kick-out shots aren't falling. We'll also struggle against fundamentally sound rebounding teams (like High Point was tonight) because we have a bad tendency to watch shots.

Kinda makes you wonder whether the previous AD, evidently rejected by a coach named Thompson, ever considered one named Smith as a splash hire. Am more than fine with the present hire. Remain discouraged, however, that the program continues to lay periodic eggs vs Big South/MEAC competition. Even with present/recent focus/resource levels you'd think it would do better.

Anybody else see their fan cutout today? I sure didn't.
