The biggest barrier that Tulsa faces in a comparison with Coastal is the sheer gap between them in the current CFP rankings.

Coastal is unlikely to fall any in these rankings, so Tulsa would have to move up 13 spots to pass them. That's a whopping number of spots, especially because it would mean vaulting Tulsa ahead of several name-brand P5 teams. They'd have to move them ahead of Oklahoma State, who beat them. Ahead of Iowa, Texas, NC State, Miami among others. I just don't see that.

I'm not saying it can't happen, I'm just saying I would not bet on it.

Coastal isn't likely to drop? At least try to appear serious Quo.

Cincinnati fell for not playing games, there are people including USC hovering around the CC ranking, as well as anyone who loses like Iowa St or AnM pushing them back.

Coastal jumped four spots for beating #14 BYU at home. Tulsa will be getting a win over #9 Cincinnati on the road on OTA television as well not ESPNU. I would say that definitely is going to be worth a whole lot of spots, again the only thing better really for Coastal is their win over BYU.

Tulsa is ranked slightly behind Louisiana without a marquee win and their loss coming at home while Tulsa lost on the road. Add a ranked win and Tulsa is right there with coastal. As I said depending on a lot of other factors.

I would really like to see Tulsa vs CC & UC vs ISU on a neutral site to decide some of these debates on the field.

Not where we are headed or who we will play minus a four plus touchdown win by Cincy.

You gotta work on some plausibility in them, otherwise not bad had all the ingredients needed.

CC will drop at least a few spots for not playing their championship game.

They are pretty much locked in between 11-13. Tulsa at 23 has no chance to catch them even with a win tomorrow.

Besides USC who is passing Coastal that has a game they will win this weekend?

NW will likely move up with a loss to mighty Ohio St. They are 14th and we saw how the committee treated UNC, that also means three big ten teams in the NY6.

North Carolina likely moves up with a ND win, they are 15.

A Northwestern win likely pulls up Iowa as well at 16.

A loss by Iowa St and missing game will hurt Louisiana which will hurt Coastal as will BYU getting bumped around while not playing and those other p5 teams prominent.

Oklahoma St would benefit from an Iowa St and Tulsa win again knocking around BYU and Louisiana while OU is unlikely to fall behind coastal with another loss knocking them back and Tulsa will climb with a huge away victory but especially in comparison to say a louisiana, BYU who they are already similar to and then when the committee gets over to comparing the best g5 champions it will be two teams in roughly similar spots 15-18 depending on how all the games shake out. It will further the all g5 are the same arguments and also prevents BYU or Coastal/Cincy from getting an at large berth since we'll all be in the same range.

Coastal could drop a spot or two, sure - if USC wins their CCG they will blow by them, and there could be one or two other examples. But that's not going to help Tulsa, they need a massive swing of 13 spots.

Could it happen? Sure. Is it likely to? Not IMO. Too many P5 will have to be jumped, and it's hard for G5 to jump P5.

We know they won't stay 12 that looks like an at large NY6 and USC, NW, and UNC are all likely to pass them and I don't see Cincinnati dropping below them unless it is a blow out. So already we are talking about the 15ish number, while Tulsa will be taking a signifigant jump based on how similar teams (BYU, Louisiana) are ranked with a good win and one loss. With Tulsa pushing them lower in the rankings which also pushes Coastal down more.

Stop it. Northwestern is not moving up with another loss.

We all said UNC was put of the rankings when ND beat them. They moved up not down. They have to make OSU look legit.

Tin foil. Wrap it around cranium.

A two loss Northwestern is not moving up after they lose to Ohio State.

ESPiN owns the playoffs. As a conspiracy theorist, there is some connection between the committee and ESPiN. No proof, but will believe, none the less.

Their Xmas gift was having 1 coach test positive and they cancel the SBC Championship. They weren’t going to beat the Cajuns again.
