Yeah, The Man is setting the precedent. When the CFP expands to 8 teams, they still won't allow us in. Cincy ended up ranked #8. What do you think they would have been if we actually had an 8-team CFP? I'm betting that USC would be #8 in that scenario.

If they did put in a clause that one spot is reserved for a G5, Cincinnati would magically be ranked at #4 or #5 today. Aside from Alabama, nobody would want to play them.

Should be only for Conference Champions.

It will be interesting to see if they have an "access slot" reserved for the G5, or if they just go with the top 8 ranked teams. I'm betting the latter, and then they just make sure we're never ranked in the top 8. But that could cause issues for the PAC, as they could regularly have their champ outside the top 8.

I have a feeling those final rankings were more about bowls and matchups than they were about team strength. The Cotton Bowl didn’t want to again be stuck with a G5 school, so they slotted Big 12 conference champ Oklahoma and SEC runner up Florida; sticking Georgia and the Peach Bowl with the ugly chick. It’s all a sham.

The G5 should threaten to break away. With that they should tell the P5 they will schedule no more games with them.

They’d love to be rid of the G5.

Alabama loves the G5. Take a look at how many away games they play every year. Its only conference games. They buy home games with G5 schools. Other P5 schools, even weak ones are not going to give them those home games. In order to negotiate you have to understand your position and where you have leverage. Then you have to use that leverage with hardball tactics if need be. The G5 leverage is games that the P5 needs to fill out their schedules and they do need and want those games. Play hard ball, its a grown up world.

Nit if the G5 quit playing them.

Many of the G5 make a nice chunk of their budget from P5 buy games. You couldn't get a secession agreed upon if you tried.

We would actually have to have some leverage to make that work. We don't have any.

I really hope nobody tunes into the communist NC game because it's real un American.

Lol...So the haves keeping down the have nots is considered communism now.

Who knew.

Not communism; totalitarianism which can be communist, socialist, capitalist, and any other economic system.

I think the G5 does have leverage and its games. Honestly I think the P5 would have a meltdown if the G5 refused to give them games. I don't see what the G5 has to lose. You get to play for a conference championship now and that's all. None of that would change.

If that happened, instead of pretending that Cincinnati, BYU, Coastal Carolina and the rest of the AAC don't exist, they actually wouldn't exist. The P5 would be thrilled.

What is the leverage? Playing OOC exclusively against other G5 conferences and no games of any kind against ranked teams...no teams being ranked ever? There is zero leverage.

It would be a move towards something like FCS status. Another subdivision where the money doesn’t flow at all. They’d be thrilled. Mission accomplished.
