I'd love to see a 10 to 12 team playoff, where every conference champion from P5 to G5 gets an automatic spot then you have a couple spots extra for great teams who didn't win their conference (probably SEC teams).
The feedback that I have gotten is every excuse under the sun, from too many games being played by young kids, to working around exam schedules, you name it. Bottom line is that FCS does it with many more teams and they are able to pull it off. Imagine a March Madness time of atmosphere for football, with more eyeballs on each of these playoff games and that equals more money. I just don't get it.
The money side of that idea would be off the charts....so why hasn't this happened yet?

Because they are scared one of us would actually win the thing one day. Forbid someone take eyes off the flagship university in their state.
UCF had 2 seasons in a row undefeated and still weren’t let in. CFP is a P5 toy, and we will never be allowed to play.

Another reason why it hasn't happened yet is because these bowl committees don't want to give up any power and influence, their contracts are signed out many years in advance. But what I am saying is to still have bowl games, just make them playoff games, maybe the first round of playoff games have it at the home stadium of the higher seed team but after that find bowl games to host the playoffs.
