Me too. My wife and I really enjoyed The Queen's Gambit.

I've should have considered Black Mirror. The first episode is stuff that horror shows are made of! Lol

Yep, awesome show

I started this one... but due to life and interest (more life) I never got back to it, how good does it get... I think I got to halfway through episode 3.

I personally did not like The Witcher on Netflix. I think The Witcher 3 is the best video game ever made, and I also really enjoyed the short story collection that the show's season 1 is based on. So maybe that is a case where familiarity with the (IMO vastly superior) source material meant the series could not live up in my mind, and had I not known the stories beforehand, maybe I would have enjoyed it more. Or maybe I would have watched the show in total confusion wondering what the heck I was watching.

As a child of the 80s, my favorite Netflix original is the docu-series "The Toys That Made Us" and its companion "The Movies That Made Us."

4 pages in and no one mentioned “Beast of No Nation” as one of Netflix’s best movies. It was incredible and would have won the Oscar for best picture had it had a large enough theatrical release. It was either the first or second Netflix original movies and they knocked it out of the park.

Do Indie movies that are not Netflix productions but pretty much only available on Netflix count?

Currently watching "The Crown". So far it's great; however, I've just started season 2. I like it from a history perspectve even though I know some parts are embellished, etc

I always liked "Frances Ha" on Netflix, but it's not a Netflix produced movie.

So far doing a cursory scan of this thread, there seems to be a couple clear front runners.

1. The Queen's Gambit

2. Ozarks

3. The Crown

Other multiple mentions: Bojack Horseman, Lillyhammer, Stranger Things, Dark (is it actually a Netflix produced show?)

Black Mirror got a few mentions, buy only a few recent episodes were actually Netflix produced.

Here is the official count up to this moment on 12-28-2020.

I used everyone's first mention, as I took that to be the one on your "top of mind"

Below are the "best of" Netflix mentions... (Number of best of mentions included)

The Queen's Gambit 7
Ozark 5
The Umbrella Academy 3
Bojack Horseman 2
Stranger Things 2
Highwaymen 2
The Witcher 2
Longmire 2
The Crown 2
Lost in Space
Outlander
Narcos
House of Cards
Mindhunter
Lillyhammer
I am not ok with this
GLOW
Ma Rainey's Black Bottom
Undone
Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance
The Toys That Made Us
Dark
Beast of No Nation

BBC/AMC shows on Netflix that made "best of" mentions...

Peaky Blinders 3

It's obvious that your list above is heavily biased towards the more recent releases. For example, while I agree that "The Queens Gambit" was good (and I said so in a previous post).....it can't touch "Breaking Bad", which surprisingly, received only a mild mention. I suspect most of these young people probably never saw it anyway.

Hot take, I think Better Call Saul is better than Breaking Bad. It started a little slow but the last couple of seasons have been fantastic.

It is not my list. As I said, these are results from people in this thread.

You are more than welcome to also comb through this thread, as I did, to find these results yourself.

Breaking Bad is not a Netflix produced program. Thus, as you see, there is a separate scrolling list from programs of this ilk.

Also, Breaking Bad is truly an eye of the beholder type show. I find it unwatchable. An example that not everyone will hold content in the same regard. Even critics vary on that.

I love how someone is going to give you crap because he doesn’t like the list after you nicely put this together. Although I don’t agree with all on the list it is something I have been referring to.

Thanks for putting this together.

I totally disagree with this. Better Call Saul has some real excitement about every 4th episode. Breaking Bad had real excitement in EVERY episode. Because Breaking Bad was about a school chemistry teacher making a decision to become a drug manufacturer, there was always a heightened intensity in every episode, due to the fear of him getting caught. Better Call Saul just doesn't have that same heightened intensity in each episode, because it delves more into relationships with Saul's brother, girlfriend, etc....and the historical "flashbacks", which I can't stand. Better Call Saul is good, but just not as good.

Better Call Saul doesn't even rank in my Top 10.
