The MLS offseason will go into full swing Wednesday (Dec. 16) at 1 pm ET, when the league's Free Agency period opens following the End-of-Year-Waivers process, allowing veterans throughout the league to engage with and sign with any club.

Eligible players are 24 years of age and older, have five MLS service years and are out of contract or have had their option declined. Free Agents can negotiate a new contract with any MLS club, including their previous team, subject to certain restrictions. There is no limit on the number of Free Agents a team may sign each year. MLS Free Agency: Rules & Procedure

Out of Contract Players who receive a bona fide offer from their current team can still participate in Free Agency. Option Decline Players may re-sign with their current team at any compensation subject to league approval in its discretion at any time prior to the beginning of Stage Two of the Re-Entry Draft (Dec. 22 at 1 pm ET).

The MLS SuperDraft 2021 presented by adidas will be held at 2 pm ET on Jan. 21 with expansion club Austin FC selecting first, the league announced Wednesday. The event will again be held virtually and can be watched on MLSsoccer.com, the MLS App, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube as clubs make their selections. In addition, fans can follow every pick as it happens with MLSsoccer.com's SuperDraft tracker.

The 2021 SuperDraft will have three rounds, with Austin picking first in each round. Clubs will then make picks in reverse order of the 2020 regular season standings and taking into account performance in the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs.

Clubs that received a 2021 fourth-round pick via trade will have a compensatory pick at the conclusion of the third round. Those teams include Inter Miami CF, Nashville SC, Sporting Kansas City and Real Salt Lake.

Players eligible for selection include college seniors, Generation adidas signings and those who have waived their college eligibility by competing in a domestic professional league. The full list of draft-eligible players will be made available in the days leading up to the draft.

After the SuperDraft, pre-signed seniors, Generation adidas players and select additional draftees will join their MLS clubs for the 2021 preseason. Others may continue to compete for their college team before reporting to their MLS club in late May. The Fall 2020 college soccer season was largely upended by the COVID-19 pandemic, and now some Division I programs are eying games during the Spring 2021 semester.

A rundown of 2020 MLS SuperDraft selections can be found here. That crop included Orlando City SC striker Daryl Dike, New England Revolution center back Henry Kessler and Nashville right back Alistair Johnston.

The official rules and procedure for MLS SuperDraft 2021 pre

Stage 1 of 2020 MLS Re-Entry Process set for Thursday at 1 pm ET
[Image: mls-reentrydraft-dl.jpeg?w=1065]

The Re-Entry Process, Stage 1 begins on Thursday at 1 pm ET. Similar to the End-of-Year Waivers process, teams select in the reverse order of their finish during the 2020 season, taking into account playoff performance and keeping in mind any trades impacting selection order. FC Cincinnati will hold the first selection, the MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew SC will get the 26th pick, and expansion club Austin FC will have the 27th.

Players who are eligible to be selected in the Re-Entry Draft include players who are at least 22 years old and have a minimum of one year of MLS service, who are out of contract and did not receive a Bona Fide Offer or whose contract options were not exercised by their clubs.

The final postseason roster mechanism will be Stage 2 of the Re-Entry Process, which will be conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 22. The list of players eligible for Re-Entry, Stage 2 will be announced on Dec. 22 at 11 am ET.

Re-Entry Process Rules

*Note: The Re-Entry List is subject to change since players can opt out.

RE: 2020-2021 MLS Offseason
Three players were selected in Stage One of the Re-Entry Process on Thursday.

Atlanta United acquired the first overall pick in a trade with FC Cincinnati earlier in the day, then selected Andrew Gutman.

Gutman, 24, was on loan with FC Cincinnati from Celtic over the last season and a half. He was an academy product of Chicago Fire FC before eventually signing with Celtic. He made 21 appearances (15 starts) this season and is a left back.

LAFC then picked versatile midfielder Raheem Edwards. Edwards, 25, has made 65 MLS appearances since debuting in 2016 with Toronto FC. He has played for Toronto, Montreal, Chicago and Minnesota.

Lastly, Sporting KC selected GK Kendall McIntosh. The 26-year-old has been with the Portland Timbers and New York Red Bulls over the last few seasons but has yet to make his MLS debut.

Clubs must exercise the option for, or extend a Bona Fide Offer to, all players selected in Stage One and may not select their own draft-eligible players. Players with option years left on their contract will automatically be added to the drafting club's roster. Should a player reject the offer, the drafting club will hold the Right of First Refusal for that player in MLS.

Stage Two is Tuesday at 11 am ET. If a player is selected, the drafting club will be required to make a genuine offer to the player within seven days. If an agreement cannot be reached between the drafting club and the player, the drafting club will hold the Right of First Refusal for that player in MLS.

Here is a full list of players available for selection.
