I never thought it had anything to do with his obsession with Carey but 100% with his obsession with covid related conspiracy theories and that is often how he was hijacking threads. It could be an innocent thread topic about a high school safety the team was recruiting and he'd turn it into an anti-Illinois government, no-one-will-ever-come-to-this-state-again, NIU is going to shutter the university tantrum and he'd do it in every....single....thread.

He got a time out and came back and started it up almost as soon as he returned.

My favorite was he would proclaim that he was going to be a watchdog for people inserting politics into their comments and then, in the next sentence...he'd insert politics into this comment.

Yes. I had forgotten his politicizing of everything. That is definitely what got him yanked. But it was the same sort of ranting and unprovoked attacks he’d have about Carey. Then when he would get warned he’d try to go passive aggressive and just insinuate. Good times. I’m sure he’s a decent guy but I’ll never understand what he was trying accomplish here. We are all stupid and stubborn at times, but a little self awareness is good for everyone...poster and reader.

I miss MD. He seemed to be a Big Huskie fan especially Basketball. I never met him. But yes I think it was his politics that was the final straw. If he could stay out of commenting on that bring him back I say!

I find your criteria for message board banning fascinating.

And no way he should be allowed back on here. He's a grown man who has been given multiple chances. For every good MD post, he had 10 ridiculous conspiracy theory posts that if you even tried to call him out on he'd have another 10 posts each crazier than the last. He can go on an Alex Jones/QANANN subreddit if he wants to post lunacy.

Now that I think about it, he probably was "Q" from QANON. Right about the time he was banned from here, "Q" started becoming even more vocal.

Sure you can put a person on ignore.

But why can't an adult be relied on to act like an adult and recognize this is a community space with community expectations and act accordingly?

Hell, there's a space here carved out for political talk and if you want to partake in it you go there...and if you don't...you don't.

He clearly didn't like those rules and did whatever the hell he wanted to do.

So, he got a timeout (more than fair) and when he came back, he acted the same way showing zero intent in following the expectations.

He deserves no sympathy. He repeatedly chose not to follow the community expectations and was escorted off the premises for it. It's really as simple as that.

He very well may be a big fan of NIU athletics. I didn't know him like some others here but, even with what I did know of him, I can't argue with that.

But to also assume that this community is somehow ruining or straining NIU fans relationship with the school or program because it ran off someone who didn't want to play nice with others is either short-sighted or an act of over-valuing the importance of this community.

He's also, from what I can tell, not banned from reading these forums (I could be wrong). He just can't participate (post/comment) in them anymore.

That would be OK if people quit quoting him.

I always thought that MD was a passionate supporter of NIU and I miss him because we have a small fan base and we need as many passionate fans as we can get. At times he was annoying but I have annoyed people at times too. I would welcome him back if the MODs allow it and I hope they do.

I get being banned and the political stuff was over the top. But I'd be fine with him back on the board. Like others have said, we don't have all that many fans on here. Most of his posts I could skip over if it got crazy.
