Justin Haire would be the guy on the top of my list.
They should take a hard look at Joe Caruso with the East Coast Sox. The guy is Tim Dulin x’s 2. He knows every HS coach in the southeast and coaches truly elite talent every year. Memphis has done an incredibly poor job recruiting & Joe would immediately charge the culture. He may not want a college job, but that’s who I’d go after.
Think back 20 years ago in football. Realistically we were not able to compete with the SEC schools for talent and still can't for the most part today. But back we were losing recruiting battles to MTSU and Ark St. Today we can steal a few recruits from the big boys. But we're constantly beating out MTSU and Ark St for football talent.
With so many SEC schools so dominant in baseball we still may not be able to get top level talent. But there should be no reason for losing recruits to regional non SEC schools.

I’ve followed prep baseball in the area for the better part of the past decade & what I’ve seen is a steady decline in the depth of the talent in the area. Whoever comes in had got to be able to recruit Louisiana, Georgia & Florida.

There just isn't a lot of baseball talent in the metro area. A few east Shelby county schools and Desoto county. But any of that talent will be snatched up by SEC schools. The Tigers should be able to compete with at least second tier level recruits. Pitching is key. A couple of decent pitchers would do wonders for any baseball program.

but that’s what they’re currently getting & they’re not competitive. The Alabama transfer from Briarcrest was a really good addition as was the Oklahoma transfer from Arlington, but the rest of the Memphis kids are “next tier” guys.
