Candle is like Simrell. He recruited good talent but could not win with it because he insisted on being his own offensive coordinator. Nick Saban and then Gary Pinckel came in and starting winning with the talent Simrell had brought in. Candle needs to get a top notch guy to do the play calling and he can sit back and take credit for putting together a winning program.

OL play has not really been good since 2015. Woodside quick release with NFL type receivers, and
Mitch's running ability help to cover up the weakness. Doesn't matter who calls the plays if the OL can't execute as a unit.
