RE: WBB vs KSU Game Thread
Wiard ended up with 14 even after a bad shooting night. Added 3 boards, 5 assists 2 blocks and 6 steals.

Morgan-Elliott had a great 2nd half on the offensive end. Career high 12 points, including 2 big threes. Added 4 boards and an assist.

Lockett had another (very quiet) 13. Still seems to be pressing and gets called for too many fouls.

Goss had 9, Davis 6, Lance 2 and Mikonowicz 1.

Wondering when we are gonna see Bolser. She looked suited up and ready to go, and coach was talking to her when UT got so many fouls inside in the 1st quarter, but still no. Also still no Colon, so wondering what is going on there.

Post offense and defense are a major problem. Morgan-Elliott not able to defend against a good post player (Blackford). She is also does not have a back to the basket offense. M-E is a shooter. But there isn't anyone else. Lance, Idowu and apparently Bolser are even less effective options. The best rebounder appears to be Sammi and she was effectively lost when she had two fouls in the first minute of the game.

After four games it appears to me that Wiard is the major talent on this team. Lockett has potential but in the last three games has not been an offensive force in spite of her double figure scoring. Seems to me she can do more. After that we have the freshmen Mikonowicz and Goss who should keep getting better but will be up and down. And Morgan-Elliott can add some offense from the perimeter. After that the team seems, early in the season, to have limited talent. I expected Davis to be an important player but her in game decision-making is questionable and poor early season shooting percentage (21%) is worrisome. And the other players getting minutes have contributed little. And there are still 3 players who have not played. Bolser must be a project if she couldn't find minutes in a game where we were getting killed on the boards. And Colon and Barnes must be injured or one would assume they would be getting minutes. Next game is Duquesne which starts two bigs one of which is at least as good as Blackford.

And we keep recruiting guards, guards, guards. At least we should have one decent big coming in next year.

The Rockets looked bad today but still managed to come within 4 against a good team. This Rockets team has some glaring weaknesses. Along with the lack of height, we are not a great shooting team. However, we are, a scrappy, competitive team.

If Wiard had scored 42 today, I think we would have won.

Our lack of post defense gets exposed big time.

In addition to All of the Above, the offense was out of sync. Ball movement was subpar and long range shooting was abysmal. And still a four point loss. Coach 'em up!
