RE: ULM Updates
Would ULM be interested in Steve Campbell? I'm sure he and his Troy cronies could get 'em 4 or 5 Ws over the next 3 years.

It is Terry Bowden he is referring to. Not sure what i would think of this hire.

Has he lost any weight??? Last time I saw him he was on the hefty side, that Louisiana cooking may put him over the edge.

Also, at 64 years old, unless he comes cheap, not sure how much energy you get from him.

Curious he is now an assistant at Clemson, a place his brother was head coach before being replaced by Dabo.

RE: ULM Updates
Just out of curiosity i looked back to 2004. From 2004 - 2019, ULMs conference record is 61-62. Seemingly .500 football. Taking on 3 Power 5s every year helps the financial situation but leaves margin for error razor thin for remaining games. I dont think Campbell falls into that category. No more safe plays, unless the powers to be provide more financial support. Beating a dead horse here but a young energetic guy has a chance to win here.

I don't get the hate for Rebowe. The work he did at Nicholls is a miracle that program was in worse shape then even we are now. In reference to the transfer thing you can basically transfer for any reason anyways now so he'll be fine. Great local Recruiter has history with underfunded schools and worked in the belt. Don't get why we wouldn't want him

Nichols was a longtime dumpster fire until Rebowe came along. Can he do this at the next level? That remains to be seen; but he is a good guy who does things the right way.

Anyone is a risk, especially with the money situation at ULM, but I personally think Rebowe is a good risk. I do not think this will be a quick rebuild regardless who the coach is.

I don't think "hate" is the correct term. Analytical reasoning might be more accurate. Rebowe did turn around a Nichols program that was under performing. But if you look at his roster, I counted 19 transfers from other schools (mostly FBS) and a few more CC transfers. And, Nichols is situated in a more fertile recruiting area than Monroe. There are plenty of "undersized players" or grade risks that Nichols can take advantage of. One or two stud transfers from an SEC or ACC program can make a material difference in an FCS school. Nichols has 19 transfers. Transfers from FBS to FCS can play immediately. Rebowe won't have that luxury at ULM. Many successful FCS schools rely on this model.

Hell, Hud was extremely successful at North Alabama doing the same thing with transfers. The one year he had at Miss St. allowed him exposure to a lot of really good talent who followed him when the Cajuns hired him. After a few seasons this talent dried up and we could not benefit from transfers other than graduate transfers. This caught up with us and Hud - much less Hud's other extracurricular activities.

Seeing the progress the Sun Belt having in football, especially this year, benefits all teams and it's exciting. Even with this progress, the Sun Belt is not the SEC who can write big checks from media contracts to all schools. ULM is not Vanderbilt (no Sun Belt school is even close academically), so being on the lowest rung in the Sun Belt is not fun.

Rebowe may prove me wrong - as I mentioned earlier, he's a stand up person and has kept the program at Nichols clean. That is commendable. With the rash of top coaching talent available this year, taking a chance on a name coach who wants to park himself for a year or two will probably be better for ULM and then parlay any success into your next hire.

Yeah...but it’s north Louisiana cooking.

I haven’t heard Rebowe at all. None of my contacts have brought up that name. Also heard Bowden not getting the job. The next President is making the hire and putting his full attention into turning around the athletic program. I actually have a little hope, but I need to see the hire to fully buy in.

Good luck, 'Hawks. Wish the best in hiring a coach that will turn your program around. In fact, I hope South did.

Per Latest update from Adam Hunsucker. ULM has spoken with Major Applewhite. This doesnt really state whether this was before or after he was hired at Ark St.

Well, there's nothing official with us yet. But he's the big rumor. Ryan Aplin isn't even official yet, even though he's change his Twitter pic to stAte. We are guessing that they are just waiting to finish their seasons before officially announcing it.

It's been so quiet I feel like no one really knows.

Will be an interesting hire

Just by going from the rumors of who South Al hired ( I don't know if we can get the same quality but whatever). If we can snag Tee Martin I'd be very happy

Obviously we all want our records to be better than this, but this isn't bad in light of the concerns many on here seem to have about ULM's ability to keep up.
