RE: Bill Clark coaching perspective
I have no problem with effort penalties, with the odd late hit that the defender was already committed to. I don't even have a problem with a hard intimidation hit that draws a penalty, because the player hit will remember it. It's the stupid penalties from a lack of discipline that tear me up, the late hits out of bounds, punching another player, stuff like that.
Offsides and false starts, pass interference and holding, those are just a part of the game. They happen. We need to cut the penalty count by about a third and get rid of the bonehead stuff and we'll be good.

It was his expressed vision to have us move up to the level of a former Boise state, UCF, etc. I believe we are close to doing that, but we just need correct a few things. I would be very happy if the OC was let go and a more modern offense installed. The penalties and turnovers have to be minimized - look at our last two games as examples.. if we just fixed or improved on those two things we would be markedly better than the last 2-3 years, which is where BC wants us to go.
I agree the offense did look a little better last night.
Well said. What's been said on this board all season: clean up the mistakes and we're a Top 25 team. Frustrating when we are the obstacle keeping us from being there. If this team stops beating itself, no telling what kind of opponent we can beat. That's why I want to see us play Coastal in our bowl.
Cleaning up our own mistakes and putting the bullet back into the gun that we shot ourselves in the foot with would’ve got us 2 more wins this year, and we would’ve had a fighting chance against Miami.
If we do 3 things we have a chance to be truly great soon IMO: limit turnovers from the qb position, run a modern offense, and limit the penalties. If do just 2 of those things we will be much improved. We’ll see how the off-season goes.

RE: Bill Clark coaching perspective
I’d like to bring an a guy who has had a similar career track record as Bill Clark’s in the history of Alabama High School football. As hesitant as the word “high school coach” may make people, I believe Mark Freeman would help us tear the roof of this thing offensively and shock the world even more than we already have since the return. Freeman might just be the spark we need on the offensive side of the ball
