Did they just say we went over 7 minutes without a basket? Wow!

17 turnovers and giving up 32 points in the paint. Troubling signs.

Not a great win but at least we beat them this time.

Won this one at the free throw line— nice to see; previous Rocket teams have struggled a bit there.

Saunders with another game of nice contributions off the bench. Maybe I should question his D-1 talent more often.

Acunzo with no points but some key rebounds.

If Shumate can become eligible & provide some experienced depth, we COULD become a tough out come MAC tournament time, even without Edu.

A tale of two halves. The inside half and the outside half. I think many of our more than normal turn-overs occurred in the paint. Allicks was a difficult match-up for us, a big that could handle the ball and just enough of a threat from the outside. Fortunatley, their shots around the basket at the end weren't falling. To me, both teams looked extremely gassed but us moreso.

I also liked Saunder's contributions.

Shumate? Doesn't bring a lot of height does he? And does anyone know what happened to Maranka? I saw him on the sideline but don't recall him playing at all.

No real height from Shumate perhaps, but I think he will contribute and that can help; if we have no real post presence other than Komagum, then having some shorter but fresher guys to throw on the floor could help us collapse in on D & quickly pop back out as needed...cut me some slack here, I’m trying to be uncharacteristically optimistic (smile).

C’mon, bcunn, you’ve always been our ray of sunshine! We have had trouble jumping out on shooters in the limited action I’ve seen. Maranka came close to a million stat line (1 minute played followed by six zeros). Actually the stats I saw gave no minutes but it looked like maybe a TO and a foul was the extent of his contributions. Forgot the game was at noon so I missed it.

I thought I saw Acunzo limping slightly at end of game on sideline.
He was out last minute. For someone with foot injury issues that is scary. Hope it is nothing.

--Update - I re-watched that. Acunzo got knocked on butt and limp was related to that rather than foot issue.

UT has had a higher FT% than their opponents for like 5+ years [edit: last time UT's opponents had a higher FT%: 2010-2011]. And UT has a top 50 FT% in the country over the last 3 years.

True...and yet I've been to games the past 4 or 5 seasons where missing free throws cost us.

I thought Maranka was OK last season. Seems to have disappeared this year.

Maranka started but didn't play long and never returned. Defense was pretty good. Offense is still rudderless. Shumate isn't huge but he is 6-7 and would be one of our taller players. Pretty good shooter who can play a stretch 4. Might be a good fit in certain rotations. we'll see. good to get revenge even if it was rather ugly.

Today two of KCs players, Jonathan Bolden and Tyre Boykin, showed up as transfers on Verbal Commits. I don' think either of them played against the Rockets.
