RE: EMU game
Pardon the redundancy, but ... past history. Doing so now would elicit a huge "HUH?!" from many. Others would say "how does this matter now?" The post-Orange Bowl opportunity ship has sailed.

More recent history: STF said NIU took on Florida State in 2018 just for the paycheck. Hopefully we can get back to where we were financially in 2019.

Concern right now is that any financial progress NIU made got slammed by Covid-19 impacts. It will take 1-2 years just to recover from that; hopefully not longer. The Huskies Invest raised $600k-plus, a damn good sign that many, many are willing to kick in. We ain't Alabama, where a crowd could fart and UA would raise $1m to buy fans to blow the stink over to Auburn. We can't even afford a decent supply of hotdogs.

The existing master plan was released in 2014-15. Since then? The Nelson Club, nutrition center, new Convo video board, new practice facilities for gymnastics and wrestling. Nice, but not major. And how many years has the Convo naming rights request-for-bids been out there?

Sounds depressing, and it is. But we die-hards hold out hope. Don't rain on our parade. Our biggest reasonable hope is for progress on the field, court, etc.

Go Huskies!

Well said. We are alumni of a school that will have to improve incrementally. Money is going to be hard to come by for the next few years.

Game Day!

Weather certainly more typical of what we sat through last year.

With that in mind, look for Hammock to try and establish a running game today.

Waylee goes over 150.
Fletcher another 50.

Play the “under” 55.

RE: EMU game
First half rain might actually do us a favor. Our corners pass coverage is their weakest attribute. They can tackle OK.

Good size and speed on our line, we can’t pass rush, but again the heavy rain will play in to our hands.

I actually like this weather for our defense.

The running game has improved, I like it. Play fletcher.

We might win this if the weather stays bad.

If you are sports betting you should at least glance at the weather. Then glance at the teams playing. Some teams are just better in the rain, even bad teams. Worth doing a deep dive on this roster if you are a gambler. M/L is the play for value here.

RE: EMU game
This team, with 60+ new faces, hasn't played a down together in the rain this year. Our running game has been mediocre, understandable with all the freshmen. We're averaging 3.3 yards per running play after 5 games in good weather. So playing in the rain "might work to our advantage" based on what?

Waylee & Collins average 4 yards. Bowers drags the overall average down.

NIU D has been better than EMU D at defending the run.

So given the weather and a pint of Huskie Kool-Aid......

LOL. OK. I can accept the Huskie Kool-Aid argument. I've downed a lot of it in my day.

See this is why sports betting is dangerous. What you just posted I am sure you consider “research” - but it is woefully inadequate.

Do a deep dive on the stats.

Collins/waylee have a much higher average per carry. In fact do a deeper dive and compare EMUs D to the other D we have faced. You are going to find a much more inviting run defense based on a number of factors. Heck look at our O Line, they have been much better the past 2 games...I wonder why. Again do your research.

It’s scary that people like you post baloney and consider it research. Then people like you would gamble based on that.

NIU in the rain is an advantage. The rain will fall in the first half. Second half is a 50% shot.

Our defense has a nice boost in the rain. Anything that prevents teams from passing really helps us. Look at the deep stats for this defense. Heck look at how they held up vs Buffalo.

And please do yourself and family a favor and don’t gamble. You may hit one here or there, but that is no way to go about life.

I am not saying NIU wins - but if you are gambling the value play is NIU M/L at 2:1 or over.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, BC. Had a game to suffer through. First, I don't bet sports unless it's with a friend for a six-pack. Second, I actually just asked a question in my post, and ThxJoeNovak answered it with a great sense of humor, so calm down. Finally, I really hope you didn't put a lot down on the Huskies. Have a great night!

LOL
I wasn’t too far off on the rushing as Waylee and Fletcher combined for over 180 yards. Other than that.....

There is always room for progress to have the program reach higher than it has in the past. To reach and achieve higher is next level. There may not be a way to reach the big games at this time but the future and variables always change. All we can do is improve, be consistently good and set ourselves up for success when the opportunity arises.

We do have an Orange Bowl flag in the end zone, but I do agree with you that we didn't capitalize nearly enough as we should have.
