Even if he's back-pedaling, he's got a lot of his believers buying it.
Hmmm...
If we could get BOTH the Rush Dittoheads and the Lefitst Progressives to leave, America would be a better place.

Something I've been thinking for a few years now. The Parties can't agree on anything & in fact have polar opposite views. We've already seen national rioting from the Left over the Right, but go ahead & blame it on the Right all you want.

Peaceful secession won't work because the USA would look like the Holy Roman Empire. What Rush is advocating is Civil War: Electric Boogooloo.

Where oh where would the red states get all their cash? Been funded by the blue states for years. Let’s see about the cessation talk next time they need their multiple hurricane, flooding and derecho bailouts each year. We are the UNITED states. Let’s move on as one. Many of these red states literally have no industry or ways to generate revenue. Can’t handle their medical needs, etc. But they do contribute in many ways. Time to just move on together.

"These states suck and can't support themselves, but together! Unity!"
That's exactly the sort of rhetoric that makes me believe Calexit or Texit is the only rational long-term course, because a country can't exist where each half of the people believe the other half are a drag on society and have utterly different worldviews, and the onus is on them to unite with the people who despise the very fabric of their being.
Shoot, we already are the Holy Roman Empire. Each state's governor is single handedly charged with deciding the absolute basic rights of each citizen, down to where they can travel and who they can see in how big of a crowd, restricting church gatherings here but not political events there or vice versa. Sounds an awful lot like the privileges each lord had over their demense, and we even have the drama with electors and court intrigue to determine the emperor to boot.

RE: Rush Limbaugh advocating secession?
I'm not really interested in getting into a political debate, but since the subject is on secession I'll throw in my two cents.
First off, secession is just ridiculous -- we are all stronger as one nation and we don't need to have the states pitted against one another -- both socially and economically. Secondly, a narcissist like Trump is never a good idea to have at the helm of any country. And finally, get rid of the gerrymandering. The group "Voters not Politicians" stopped this in Michigan and I hope it spreads throughout the country. It makes politicians accountable for their actions and I would hope it would stop the bickering on Capital Hill -- or you'll pay the price at the polls.

VNP was a national Democratic operation run by the Brennan Center, with the hook of one Michigan activist as a front person (who actually started it). I got a call from one of the "local" leaders once trying to swing a deal. His phone's area code? 202... Washington, D.C. Sure, he was from Michigan originally. The guy is a stone cold left-wing hack, who works as a consultant. "Voters not Politicians," HA!
Those hapless citizens on the commission will be pressured by former Brennan Center employee and Michigan Bureau of Election chief to hire a bunch of Brennan Center-approved "experts" to shove as Democratic-friendly a map as they think will fly in front of them. The California version of this locked in Democratic supermajorities, making it a 1 party state. Even their precious "voter efficiency gap" metric—which is garbage because high-density urban centers that vote 90% Democrat are always going to have a tone of "wasted votes" vs. a 60%/40% rural Republican district—gets chucked the second they get the map they want. California's legislature does not in any way equal the total votes for Republicans and Democrats overall.
Ironically enough, though, the shift in voter patterns is going to make a Democrat gerrymander very difficult. They will try their darnedest though. VNP was all a clever, shallow ruse to make voters believe it's all neutral and fair.
Don't take my word for it, go check and see how much money they spend and from where it came during the November vote on it.
Thanks, good rant to get off my chest :)
