Just eight days away now and I thought I'd get a thread started for all conversation related to one of the most important games ever in Nippert Stadium.
You thoughts on...
- Tulsa-player health and availability?
-fans in the stands--will UC get treatment at least equal to OH's NFL franchises?
-local media: will they jump on this game as a team with "Cincinnati" on the jerseys that is undefeated, ranked, and hosting a significant championship? Will Channel 9 go the extra mile as the ABC affiliate with a local pregame lead-in special?
-TV ratings: will Ohio be watching in larger numbers than ever before? Will this game draw the biggest TV ratings in Nippert's history?
Much to be excited about this week unless the Covid 19 curveball is thrown our way, which we've seen repeatedly this college season.
I heard on Channel 9 news earlier this morning they are doing a pre-game special beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. More positive publicity for our 'Cats.

That's great and a start.. I'll know we're big time though, when every local channel is running live specials.

This town is STARVING for a championship in ANY sport!

Agreed. I guess that's why predictions of a big Bearcat blowout of Tulsa make me wary. This is the city of Cincinnati, after all. A City that has suffered under a long drought since the '90 Reds World Championship and '92 UC Final Four.
Here's hoping a big win on national TV Saturday night and locking up the NY6 bowl energize more than just the UC faithful. If others in town are waiting on the Bengals and Reds to take us to the Promised Land, I hope they are young enough to cheer for another decade or more awaiting those outcomes. The Bearcats need to seize the day on Saturday; our fans need to cherish the moment. Go 'Cats!

Yes...this is the time to really seize some ground.
2022 Recruiting class is currently in the Top 10
Undefeated season and aNY6 Bowl Win
Keeping our head coach for year 5.
Those three things could essentially be the rocket fuel we've been looking for to push this program into a conversation no other team like us has been in.

Year 5. I like the way that sounds. Hasn't been done in nearly two decades. You'd have to go back to Minter for a coach to be around here that long. Pinch me...no, slap me...

Honestly, I think it will take us into the second quarter to assert ourselves. There will be some rust in our play and guys over-amped up on defense for both teams to start off that will keep it close. In the second half our depth and clicking in all three phases will overtake Tulsa. I really believe this team is PISSED OFF inside the locker room for the CFP disrespect and the frustration of not playing for weeks. They want to make a statement and it will happen once the clock reads 0:00.
biggest concern for this game is turnovers and falling behind early. If UC gets out of first quarter without giving the game away this is a big UC win. Do what they did against UCF or Army and it’s going to be a fight all game.
Tulsa has an above average defense, but their offense blows. If we can keep our offense on the field and wear their defense down, I look for this to be a repeat of the SMU, Memphis and Army games
Close for about a half. We run away from them in the second half.
31-13
Then...
Ohio St. loses to Northwestern, A&M loses to Tennessee, Florida loses to bama, Iowa St. loses to Oklahoma and the CFP ends up being Alabama, Clemson, ND and... Oklahoma.

Agree.
The only way UC makes the CFP Invitational is if the higher ranked teams get COVID...and, even then, then there's no guarantee.

We haven't gone up against a good D (maybe Army) yet this year. This game will be won or lost on the offensive side of the ball. Interested to see how Ridder does against them. D needs to look to score/turn them over.
