Summarization of the evidence for vitamin D supplementation during this time
If you or you know someone who doubts the importance of vitamin D now -- Dr. Seheult weaves together the *numerous* vitamin D studies which creates a **compelling** story for supplementation. This is an hour long video - it takes that long to summarize and tie together the evidence. Dr. Seheult is a professor at a medical school, writes questions for the MCAT, and is taking care of covid-19 patients in hospital.

Been taking Vitamin D supplements since this spring 'cause Joe Rogan told me to. I do what my Internet Masters tell me to.

Thanks for being a team player and sharing this information.

Even for those who may be skeptical, there are enough benefits from Vitamin D that daily supplements may well be worthwhile.

There is also information suggesting that zinc supplements, vitamin C, and echinacea boost immune functioning and can help the body to fight off certain types of coronaviruses that cause the common cold by supporting the immune system. Some people with a strong immune system have been able to fight off the covid virus without becoming severely ill.

Even before all this I took 3000 IUs daily, particularly in winter months. Now, I take 4200 IUs of D3. I get 2000 in my joint vitamins (Move Free), 200 in my MV, 1000 in a soft gel, & 1000 in a chew vitamin (used to be berry flavor now I've moved to chocolate (tastes kinda like a tootsie roll)). I also try to walk the dog in the sunlight as much as possible.

Holy crap this had got to be the third non-sports Vitamin D thread on here. Can we combine these into a single Vitamins/Supplements/Herbal Remedies/Hemp Weaving/Vaping thread and call it a day?

A significant portion of the population United States already has insufficient levels of vitamin D. Now with the short days of winter and the sun low in the sky it's not hard to visualize why some of these respiratory illnesses spread during the winter. I did not understand the importance of vitamin D until this virus. During the summer I supplemented with 2000 IUs and now take 5000 to make up, I hope, for the lack of sunlight.

Years ago I was told by my doc that pretty much everyone has low levels of vitamin D anymore.

Only for those with darker skin pigment living in the northern states. And BTW, excessive vitamin D supplementation can cause problems too. If I take vit D3 supplement for more than 2-3 days, I get very itchy skin.

That said, yes there are numerous studies showing vit D essential to fighting respiratory inflammation.
