So I have a question.
These numbers prove the strength of the game even against some solid competition, does this make being forced to change the game date if we were to get Army as number twelve easier?
I'm going to say "no."
Those numbers ARE a good news story...SOMEWHAT.
Before the move away from ccg weekend, in 2008 Army-Navy dropped to a 2.0 rating, so neighborhood of 3 million viewers.
Standing alone from 2009, steady climb until last four years averaged 8 million viewers.
So nearly 5 million is good, but it isnt what CBS is paying for through 2028.
And I'd say there's a chance we would have done worse had OSU-Michigan played at noon: som of the 4.91 million people were probably of the "watch one game this weekend" variety.
On true rivalry weekend every year, the competition would be even stiffer.
I've said best case if we HAVE to take in the Woops would be cross division, play on rivalry weekend when we have to, and a "non-conference" game second saturday the two years we're off. That still doesnt deliver for CBS. Loses momentum for the standalone weekend in the years we're not. Ruins half your Thanksgivings for the Corps and Brigade. Still bad for conference and for A-N of we ever meet in ccg and therefore back to back
