The Golden Hurricane hit hard; they swallow up whatever you try to do; and players such as linebacker Zaven Collins and end Jaxon Player would have had a spot in the rotation of any defense in the country. Head coach Philip Montgomery was hired at TU because of his offensive prowess, but as opponents have adapted to his and others' versions of the spread, his own defense, led by future power conference defensive coordinator Joseph Gillespie for the past two years, has adapted even more. His 3-3-5 is unique and frustrating, and watching Cincinnati try to move the ball against Tulsa in cold and soggy weather was miserable ... in all the right, football-related ways.

Tulsa might end up playing Army in the Armed Forces Bowl.

That's because with Tennessee dropping out of the Liberty Bowl, the SEC bowl pool protocol could have Mississippi State moving from the AFB to the Liberty Bowl, thereby opening a spot for Army in the AFB.

That would make some sense, as Mississippi State is close to Memphis, and, well, Army in the Armed Forces Bowl has a certain ring to it.

Army is a great fit for the Liberty Bowl. Navy played in it and won (also beat Army) last year. Army beat Navy this year so ...
I don't think MsState is garnering much attention nationally this season. In fact, I'm looking for the mysterious covid outbreak (see Tennessee, South Carolina) to sweep into Starkville any moment now !!!
