Thanks. Pretty surprised we pulled that one off down all those players and having not played in over a month.

And we were down to 40 scholarship players. We did not have our best WR, 1st string RB and a backup, our starting QB was back but hadn’t played a full game since God knows when, and the entire team hadn’t played a game in over a month. Our team full strength against your team full strength and we win but win big.

You know, I am pretty sure UAB (and others for that matter) got dodged several times this year because of “Covid issues”... UAB AND Rice showed that depleted rosters can still play football. These kids want to play and they did. Props to both teams. I hope the rest of the nation takes notice that 40 scholarship players is enough (pretty sure both teams were depleted to that level...).

I think the real travesty, and this probably deserves its own thread, is the fact we got two non power 5 teams that are undefeated and will be left out of the playoffs for a team that only played 5 games (6 if you include the championship the big 10 changed their rules for) and at least a team that lost to a conference foe (I thought every game mattered). Said conference (ACC) also cancelled games today for Clemson and ND to “protect the integrity of the acc championship game” (I do think ND and Clemson are two of the best but this is principle...). I also believe Coastal Carolina beat Iowa State but Iowa State is somehow ranked above them. Coastal has played 11 games winning them all with some of them ranked. Cincinnati is also undefeated but is stuck at 8. I wished we were talking about a CUSA team but one or both of those teams deserve a playoff spot even if they get ran out of the building by the 1 and 2 seeds. You always play the game and I bet one or both of them make it closer than the cartel bridesmaids that will get the spot over the more deserving team(s)

Louisiana beat Iowa St. 31-14 in Ames. Coastal then beat Louisiana. Nevertheless, 2 loss ISU is ranked ahead of both.

It pisses me off so much, I didn’t want to go look. This is even a better narrative because UAB had Louisiana on the ropes and gave it away. Iowa St. is honestly positioned to get a playoff spot if things fell their way. That scenario looks more promising with Florida losing to LSU. I am surprised Florida didn’t need to cancel because of “COVID”. I give them credit for playing.

I hope Iowa state makes the invitational so we can show just how biased the system is.

Good win UAB. Best of luck against Marshall and in your bowl. If anyone knows a decent run first, multiple offense that isn't one dimensional, give Rice a call. We need a change in scheme.
