The new WAC will definitely be a better basketball conference then the Sun Belt with these new additions. Chicago State will be in the East Division. Chicago State isn't going to be kicked out. The only way Chicago State is not in the WAC is if they choose to leave it.

Volleyball/Softball - Divisional schedule only with the addition of one or two "round-ups" allowing intradivisional play (say that all teams converge once in the west and once in the east)

Swimming & Diving / Beach Volleyball / Cross Country / Track & Field / Golf - a single championship event as is the case now

Tennis - no regular season play; end of season tournament based on ITA rankings

Baseball - this is where I am stuck; could you conceivably do home-and-homes within the division? That's 36 games (6 opponents x 3 x 2) in league play and then do a tournament based on divisional seeding/rank? Maybe do "pool play" in the tournament so everyone gets at least three games?

You join the WAC so you CAN travel outside of Texas and expand your brand into new markets. SFA playing in Seattle. Sam taking on GCU in Phoenix. Lamar vs. CBU on TV in LA. ACU getting whooped in Chicago. Not only that, your recruiting grounds and pipelines will grow exponentially. The move to the WAC is a visionary one. If you only focus on the dollars, it won't make cents.

The Southland tv deal previously SUCKED. They sold rights to ESPN and they are carried on the EsPn+ app and built a federation of over the air digital secondary channels (ie bunny ear 5.3).

The Big Sky has sports on free apps like Pluto TV.

The Sun Belt has the championship game and a few randos during on TV each year but most is handled through the app. During Covid, the Belt has taken advantage of teams not playing and some other leagues being affiliated with the fox sports properties to highlight their programs.

Because MWC and CUSA are not ESPN properties, their games aren't shown as much on that platform. I find their games on Fox Sports, NFL network, OTA, CBS Sports.... honestly it's a crapshoot.

Money aside, from a fan perspective the Southland tv rights deal with ESPN has been great. We recently moved from Abilene to Virginia. For a $12.95 a month I get a package that includes Disney, Hulu, and ESPN+. The ESPN ap allows me to watch virtually every ACU home game from the comfort of my living room. Before the deal, ACU games were only available via an unreliable subscriber service.

From a money perspective, I see why conferences want their product to be able to command a good price. From a fan perspective, streaming has been a god send for fans. I am extremely happy with the FREE and dead simple easy to use WAC Digital Network.

As far as all these WAC wannabe schools who are trying to find a way to never have to leave Texas and to want to decide who’s in the conference—I’d advise staying where you’re at and simply getting rid of the schools you don’t want there, instead of trying to get rid of the schools you don’t want over here.

Im just excited that it looks like the WAC is gonna survive and it looks like some legit D1 schools are joining, not more D2/Junior colleges joining. I'm not knocking the D2 and junior college (UVU) that joined. However, the transition probation period for those schools is a killer for WAC tournament and letting the WAC look legit. I'm also looking forward to the possibilities for the WAC as a FBS football conference. This is just a hope not based on any facts before Posse Galore throws his little hissy fit and then when you disagree with him he goes on a rant what a bad person you are.

FBS is on the table with the clause. Never saw this happening when Tarleton joined last year.

Dude, I got called "old balls" by some kid at an alumni tailgate and I was just barely 30. I can't imagine what I'd be called now, over a decade later.

All that is to say it's okay to drop the schtick. I'm more than happy to have honest, respectful conversations about our teams and fandom. If you're genuinely curious about the lack of coverage on GCU and Majerle, it's probably because because the sports media doesn't really care about GCU.
