Tim Rebowe has done a great job down there. However i feel this would seem like a very similar hire to Viator. I truly believe that ULM needs to do something unique or "out of the box". I dont agree with the old school flex or triple option offense route. I do see the pros to that however. Just personally not something most people want to sit in the stands and watch. I would limit my search to young offensive mind. This would allow ULM to pump some energy and player relativity into the program. Also would allow ULM to not pay "Top Dollar" for Offensive Coordinator. Give someone the title with QB coach pay. This would allow them to spend more on a true deserving FBS Defensive Coordinator. Lets face it, the past several years this has not been the case. IMO this is the route to go. Still trying to figure out who would fit the mold as "Young Offensive Mind" willing to take on a huge project. Any names you guys know of that would fit into this category out of curiosity???

I understand why the triple option is much maligned, but it does work. From a budget standpoint, your tiny budget (not an insult - we've been there and done that, yet ours is still currently nothing to write home about) basically gives you 2 options. Take a chance on a unknown, or do something unique. If it was me, I'd be pouring over the stats from FCS, Div II, III. Who's the top producing rushing teams? Passing teams? What makes them good, are they doing something unique? From there it won't be too hard to lure them with what little money you have. Rinse and repeat. I do this on my own time to find teams to watch. I like unique offenses.

The triple option gives you 2 choices: something unique, and the ability to hire within your budget because obviously it's not in demand. It'll give you a chance to get your sea legs because there's not a high likelihood of getting poached. It's easier to hone you hiring practices by filtering out who can run the triple successfully. It's basically self maintaining. I dare say, it's even fun to watch.

Historically ULM hasnt had issues on the offensive side of the ball. The ability to recruit playmakers has not been an issue. Also generally we have above avg Offensive Line play. The Qbs in the past seem to have a good track record. For any betters out there it seems the past 5-10 years you could blindly bet the Over in ULM games and be successful. So maybe the offensive debate whether triple or air raid isnt as big of a deal. I sure would like to see a ULM defense respectable. Pour the money into Defensive Hires. Hire HC/OC and lets see what happens. Valid point by you though.

Vicious cycle, winning. It solves problems, but the problem is consistently winning. When push comes to shove, do we what we do, poach from App. 03-lmfao

Huh. I feel like I've seen that list, but I guess I hadn't paid attention to that inequality. Interesting, thanks!

For the past year they reportedly broke even which is always a sign that they had to write a check.

I read on another site that the HC from Zackery High School is a legit candidate. Is there any truth to that?

I've never heard of Zackery, is it anywhere near Zachary?

Butch Jones mentioned for ULM job by Football Scoop. I’d be all about that.

Lots of names being mentioned

Kubiak would be a weird hire.

I expect to see a heavy dose of scalfo/Rebowe/ Fobbs mentioned.

Butch Jones would show that we actually care and would be a great hire but I can see him going to state and crushing it there instead.

Viator kind of came out of the blue so we'll see. Probably the biggest hire in schools history ( Richard came at an important time as well).
