RE: College Basketball 2020-21 Season
How bad a year is the ACC having this year in men's basketball?

Since 2000, the ACC has only not had a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament TWO times in 20 years.

2013: (Louisville was but they were in the Big East), Miami and Duke were #2 seeds.
2003: How long ago was this? WAKE FOREST was a #2 seed.

IMO It would be almost impossible for any ACC team this year to get a #2 seed. Right now I don't have any ACC team seeded higher than #4. If Florida State or Virginia doesn't win the ACC Tournament, I doubt any ACC team gets seeded as high as #3.

Seeding wise, this will be the worst year of the 21st century. I don't know how far you'd have to go back to have no ACC teams seeded #1 or #2.

In terms of performance, the worst in the 2010's was 2014 when the ACC had just one team make the Sweet 16 (#1 seed Virginia) and no teams in the Elite 8. Duke (#3 seed) was bounced in the 1st round. That was the only year last decade where the ACC didn't have a team in the Elite 8. With no potential #1 or #2 seeds, an ACC team will have to pull an upset to make this year's Elite 8 and unless Florida State or Virginia gets to the #3 line they will likely have to beat a #1 seed to do it.

You know the ACC isn't doing well when the SEC will have a higher seeded team than anyone in the ACC ... and it's not Kentucky. Even worse, it's Alabama!

Hey schmolik, you’re having one of your worst posting years since 2000. Believe it or not, schmolik has posted his worst posts since 2007, when none of his posts were very good. His saving grace was a few of his posts made runs in the annual March post tournament. Luckily, he bounced back the next posting season when some of his younger ideas matured.

I have hope you can improve, schmolik!

Villanova's just expensive. Duke, like Northwestern, Stanford, and the Ivy League schools, is expensive and has insanely high academic standards. You can't just pay your way to get in. Those schools think you're not rich enough for you and not smart enough for you. Villanova just thinks you're not rich enough for you. It's the Dukes, Northwesterns, and Stanfords that I dislike (as well as the bottom feeder academic schools, go figure).

RE: College Basketball 2020-21 Season
ACC Tournament tips off at 2pm, less than an hour away.

Full bracket: https://theacc.com/news/2021/3/6/mens-ba...ament.aspx

Will Duke embarrass themselves vs. Boston College? Or will they shock everyone and win the automatic bid in their home state? Will another North Carolina team win it? Duke won the ACC Tournament in Greensboro in 2010 and 2011 but the last three times in Greensboro an out of state team won it (Miami, 2013, Virginia, 2014, and Notre Dame, 2015). Duke also won in Charlotte 2019. Of course they had Zion Williamson that year.

Pick the winner of the ACC Tournament along with winners of other conference championships in the Conference Championships Pick Contest: https://csnbbs.com/thread-918146.html

To each his own.

I prefer and find it easy to root for private schools like Georgetown, Villanova, ND, Stanford, Duke, Northwestern, BC, etc...over large land grant state schools, every single time.

It may be that I like that they take academics seriously and graduate their players, it may be my Catholic background, it may be that I like that they compete without massive student fees and state welfare subsidies.

I have never rooted for State U in any state that I have lived in, including my native Pennsylvania.

I forget which schools exactly, but in FBS football I know Notre Dame, Stanford, Northwestern, Rice, the Academies, and maybe a few others hold the athletes to the same academic standard as the rest of the student body. Hard to root against that.

BUT, the real question is why isn’t schmolik on the Big East board spamming how horrible of a season they’re having? He actually roots for a Big East team!

I thought sunlight turned him and two of his buddies into stone after bargaining all night with Bilbo Baggins! Or maybe it was that Harry Potter killed him in the women's bathroom at Hogwarts, I can't remember for sure but the species is right!

Why? Were Spartans particularly bigoted toward Athenians? No, I'm afraid having their names plastered all over our venues isn't enough for Corporate America! I hated it when they ruined bowl games names. It's way way out of bounds today.
