RE: What John Brannen went through last season
Brannen got off to a slow start last year. I believe Bowling Green took us down. We got better as the season wore along as he learned the players and the players learned his system. It sure looks to me the same thing is going on right now. It's two games in. Long way to go and I look for the team to keep getting better. We have a leader now - DD - and that's important. Remember how Tre embraced that role last year? It really helps to have a guy like that on the court and in the locker room.

I thought Brannen did a pretty good job last year to have the team on the right side of the bubble when it all came to an abrupt halt. It did take him some time to make adjustments to suit the players he actually had, rather than those he wished he had. I will be satisfied with a similar outcome this year (except hoping the tournament is actually played), but there is again the prospect of an uphill battle to whip the squad into something capable of that level of play.

His son played for Michigan, so Dakich feels he can speak with impunity on everything that happened there. Fact is everyone at Michigan wanted DDJ to stay, so take whatever is said from that camp with a couple cups of salt...
