SMU has probably been the biggest beneficiary of the portal system because the school is located in talent rich Dallas. Here is a link to the article and quote from it. "Last season’s roster touted 31 transfers, most notably SMU’s all-conference quarterback Shane Buechele from Texas. On down the list, some of SMU’s most visible stars from a year ago came by way of another school. Reggie Roberson Jr. was a West Virginia product. Richard McBryde made the trip from Auburn."

“Keeping Dallas kids in Dallas will always be our priority. I think there is a shift [with kids wanting to do that]. I think we could see this even before COVID. I think they understand staying home creates a lot of opportunities to create a brand for themselves,” Dykes said.

“We want [them to see] you can get an education from a school like SMU and also have your friends and family come watch you play. We want to have enough credibly to say you don’t have to play in the SEC or Big 12. You can come to SMU and have the best of both worlds,” Dykes continued.

This is exactly right. We should be a very attractive landing spot for transfers.

From the CA article in post #2.

Hart, a Memphis native who graduated from MUS, left the team in September during the Tigers' COVID-19 outbreak. He's one of 13 Memphis players this season that have transferred, opted out or taken a personal leave of absence.

RE: Tim Hart
OK. Why are the kids transferring? I’ve seen all or parts of every Tiger games this year and it seems that something just isn’t right with the team. The defense isn’t Strong and the offense, at least in the last 2-3 games, has been stodgy. Maybe it’s the players who are missing because of opt outs or transfers or injuries. Or maybe it’s the new coaching staff. Being on the East Coast, I don’t see the Local paper or hear local radio, so I don’t have a feel for the temperature of the team or the fans. Is the team headed in the right direction? I’d like to know what folks think.
