These decisions aren't made where some of you clearly think they are made...

I would not be pissed if we wound up playing the runner up in any G5 conference if we were the winner of CUSA. That's the type of bowl game we should get. Not the 45th best team in the SEC.

As others have stated, this game is a complete no win for us. We lose, and it takes away from a lot of what we have accomplished. We win, and it's expected that a conference winner beats a bottom feeder of any other conference. I hate the game, but hopefully we get the P5 monkey off our back now.

Thank you... Good Lord some people love their tin hats. I mean, Paul Bryant, Jr. setting this up?? I don't like this game either, but let's get ahold of ourselves.

Nobody said PBJ set this game up. It is the kind of bowl match up his type think UAB deserves for winning CUSA. It's a game where winning proves nothing for us or the G5 but losing reinforces the image the P5 wants for us all: minor league.

So it's win or be a joke. We better win.

I'm sorry if I missed this, but why was the Birmingham Bowl cancelled?

I'm not a huge fan of the matchup... Definitely seems like an insult to us. In typical UAB fashion we will probably come out and lose this game on national TV. On the flip slide, if we take care of business and beat the crap out of this two-win team, that does carry some weight and will finally get us a P5 win under Clark..

I imagine nobody outside a few of our fans wanted to play in Birmingham, as usual.

And conference/bowl agreement forced us to Tampa even if we wanted to stay home.

I would have far and away preferred to play in Bham, possibly for our last game at Legion Field, than travelling to Tampa during the height of the pandemic to play a two-win SEC team.

I read somewhere we tried to get the South Carolina-UAB match up in the Ham Bowl but Carolina refused to play us in Birmingham. I think that could be a huge hang up with landing an opponent for us in that bowl. Not sure I would like UAB playing a bowl game that is really our opponent's home game.
