How long will it take to see results?
He has a dumpster fire so I don't expect much next year. Realistically when can we see improvement? 2 years or more?

I'm not certain any of 'why' matters in a low budget, POS g5 conference, coupled with TTToby's covid RINO lockdown...
fwiw, it took both gel boy and monk a few to figure out 'the escape' strategy...
if Hall has chops, best guess is ~same time frame...

I think we’ll see some aspects of the team get significantly better next season, but I’m not expecting to see 7-8 wins or us competing for a division title) until 2022. He’s gonna need some Jimmys & Joes to go with his Xs & Os.

I agree, but let’s not overestimate the talent level of CUSA.

As long as it takes Will Hall to get a GOOD offensive/defensive line. Those are the positions where games are won. Those are the players who are the toughest to recruit in the south. We'll always be able to get relatively good skill players...but games are won in the trenches.

RE: How long will it take to see results?
I think the first 3 games will be telling along with what he pulls off in recruiting.
If he flips a couple of guys, picks up a few in the portal, maybe sign a couple JUCO guys. I can see the first 3 games being the learning curve of either barely winning, barely losing, or getting blown out.
If by game 4 we're 0-3 and struggle to stop the other team and can't seem to find the endzone, it may take to the next season. Gotta remember he'll be playing with Hop's recruits for the most part. Not saying there's not any talent, but it's not like we were fighting Moo U for these guys.

To one extent he's already getting results. There is more excitement about this hire and what his plans are than there was for Fedora, Johnson, Monken or Hopson. That is the one difference i see anyway.

Were you around for Fedora? I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a guy get a fanbase as excited as he did. Came in like he was juiced with Red Bull, put together an amazing staff (for the most part), then signed a bunch of 4 star guys and our only 5 star recruit ever. Hall’s doing well so far, but better than Fedora at creating hype? I’ll strongly disagree.

When Fedora was hired, a lot of Bower loyalists never warmed up to him simply because he was Bower’s replacement. They actually resented his energy, called him a pretty boy, poked fun at his hair gel, and even got an old man to call him “nothin’ but a danged cheerleader” on a live radio broadcast a year after he delivered a championship and a Top 20 finish.
Hall doesn’t carry that burden. Coach Bower would be retired by now anyway. Hopson’s friends know he fired himself. We’re even 2 A.D.s removed from Hammond now. Hall has a real chance to heal the fractures of the past decade or so.
I agree Hall’s not delivering a jolt of the magnitude Fedora did, but the pool of people he’s firing up is larger than Fedora’s.

Precisely. Was doing my best to not reply to Harbor's post but that was my thought. If we have 7 wins in 2022, the hire would be a failure.

That was the point i was making with my post. Fedora was actually hated by a lot of the fan base. Hall has a larger group behind him is my point and yes i was here for fedora and there for every game of his tenure.

Most of the "fans" that "hated" Fedora liked Ellis so who cares about them. Most are dead now anyway.

You’re probably right, most of them are dead now. That’s why our fan numbers have halved over that period of time. No new ones and the old codgers dying is no way to build a viable program.

RE: How long will it take to see results?
Looking at next year's September schedule and the first game may be a cluster as both teams will be breaking in new coaches:
9/4 - at South Alabama
9/11 - ***to be determined
9/18 - Troy
9/25 - at Alabama
**no idea if the 9/11 game will be Grambling, a CUSA team or a bye. About a month or so ago a report came out with Grambling saying they had reached a "strong verbal" to play us in 2021

He had a top 30 offense at Tulane facing tougher teams.
He'll rehab this by year two and in 2022 you'll push to win the conference. His rushing attack absolutely abuses lesser teams.

Hall has a great chance to have a winning season next season. He should have the best WR corp in CUSA, a good stable of RBs, and better coaching and gameplans than what we've witnessed recently.

Still not sure why we play 1-AA teams. Play a mid tier P5 team from the AAC or Big Ten. We play 1-AA teams every week in conference.

Guessing here but
- probably one of the few ways to get that 6th guaranteed home game each year
- 99.9% guarantee of getting a win to get to at least 6 wins for bowl eligibility..and contract extension for head coach
- no return game required so it sets up for scheduling another 1-AA game down the road in the event we can't get a FBS home and home series
