9/4 - at South Alabama
9/11 - ***to be determined
9/18 - Troy

**no idea if the 9/11 game will be Grambling, a CUSA team or a bye. About a month or so ago a report came out with Grambling saying they had reached a "strong verbal" to play us in 2021

I saw on a LA newspaper that Grambling announced that they had a deal with us and Houston. Pretty sure it said 2021. Go to the Grambling site or google Grambling football.

Came in like he was juiced with Red Bull, put together an amazing staff (for the most part), then signed a bunch of 4 star guys and our only 5 star recruit ever. Hall’s doing well so far, but better than Fedora at creating hype? I’ll strongly disagree.

When Fedora was hired, a lot of Bower loyalists never warmed up to him simply because he was Bower’s replacement. They actually resented his energy, called him a pretty boy, poked fun at his hair gel, and even got an old man to call him “nothin’ but a danged cheerleader” on a live radio broadcast a year after he delivered a championship and a Top 20 finish.

Hall doesn’t carry that burden. Coach Bower would be retired by now anyway. Hopson’s friends know he fired himself. We’re even 2 A.D.s removed from Hammond now. Hall has a real chance to heal the fractures of the past decade or so.

I agree Hall’s not delivering a jolt of the magnitude Fedora did, but the pool of people he’s firing up is larger than Fedora’s.

That was the point i was making with my post. Fedora was actually hated by a lot of the fan base. Hall has a larger group behind him is my point and yes i was here for fedora and there for every game of his tenure.

Most of the "fans" that "hated" Fedora liked Ellis so who cares about them. Most are dead now anyway.

You’re probably right, most of them are dead now. That’s why our fan numbers have halved over that period of time. No new ones and the old codgers dying is no way to build a viable program.

Not me. It was time to move on from Jeff. I hated Ellis right off the bat. His "everything not SEC is poor quality" attitude made me sick. Then the Nebraska game seconded why I did not like him. I might be called an old codger (actually in better shape than a lot of 50 year olds.) but I was go Fedora and Monken. Thought the Hopson hire was not good. Am excited right noe. I do but 4 season tickets and EC.

It will take him 2 or 3 years to have us competing for a conference championship. Going to take some time to get solid depth on this roster.

I disagree. I think next year we will compete. This isnt the SEC, or even the AAC...or Sunbelt. Year two we will be just THAT much better. We will be lucky to have him a fourth year.

RE: How long will it take to see results?
I’m hearing at least a couple impactful seniors are sticking around for their Covid make-up year.

Between that and seeing what we did to FAU, I’m starting to come around to Reggie’s thinking. We’re not going to have the depth to sniff the polls next year, and injuries could derail us for that same reason, but I’m afraid we may have underestimated just how little Hopson even accomplished with the players he did bring in.

Of course, in retrospect, him finishing .500 in CUSA with a future NFL QB should’ve been our first hint.

Hope so! Moving in the right direction, he's gonna do great things!

Is anybody else hearing that Troy may be making a head coach change for reasons not related to football?
