I am intrigued. Why NMSU, UMass? I like the Vandy pick. Hawaii is a good pick to get that extra game, but doesn’t it have to be a road game?

RE: Your Dream Football Schedule
I love your TN and WVU games. I’m tempted to change my Penn St. game to WVU.

I was trying to be realistic in my picks. I was making sure we ensured 7 home games, winnable and some familiar faces. We’ve played NMSU a decent amount and is an easier game to win than JMU. UMASS is a yearly staple and I like keeping them around. With a home slate of VT, JMU, ODU and BYU, you can guarantee we’d sell a lot of tickets.

RE: Your Dream Football Schedule
Mine is more general. If I'm taking the realistic approach, I think one game against each of the 10 conferences plus UMass and UConn is a good schedule. Maybe have an either/or with the PAC 12 and Mountain West to open up a wildcard slot for someone else.

Or five P5 games with one from each conference, plus UMass, UConn, New Mexico State. That leaves four slots to rotate through BYU, Army, and other G5 schools.

You may be wondering why UMass and UConn are so heavily featured, which is fair. UMass is the only team we've played each year of FBS and it has always been at the end of the year so they are our default rival. New Mexico State is kind of in the same boat but they are off the schedule briefly and are much further away. UConn is a better athletic program in a better conference so I would rather play them yearly than NMSU, but I'm okay with both.

Yeah, I like the idea of spreading games around to all the conferences as well as regions of the country. I did that somewhat with my dream schedule.....
AAC Navy
SEC Kentucky
Big 10 Penn St.
ACC Virginia
ACC Va. Tech
Western Indy BYU
Big 12 Baylor
Sun Belt Beach Chickens
Eastern Indy Army
ACC Miami
C-USA ODU
Midwest Indy Notre Dame

If I had to choose a team from the other conferences it would be.....
Pac 12 - UCLA
MWC - Hawaii
MAC - Nobody really... but I’ll say Toledo I guess.

RE: Your Dream Football Schedule
My dream football schedule could be a reality if we push for it. I wouldn't mind being what Notre Same is to the ACC but with the AAC. I consider having 3-4 P5's every season(mostly the ACC but could be flexible with other possibilities). The other games are G5's but mostly affiliated with the AAC and Independent. Then we can get 1-2 random games with G5 teams from other conferences or one G5/ one FCS. For Example:

Wake Forest/other team from another P5 conference like Baylor, UK, WVU, ect
Navy
ODU/APP State/Ball State
UNC/Syracuse/Pitt
Army/Marshall/UCF/Hawaii/BSU
Temple
Virginia Tech/UVA/GT
NCCU/North Alabama/JMU
ECU
BYU
UMASS/UCONN

*Doesn't have to be in that specific order*

You get the picture. Still independent but have a decent schedule and a lot of possible wins. Some of these schools wouldn't mind and the P5 schools are not really equivalent in their upper level (except UNC/Tech might come back). Most teams are close or near the East Coast (except BYU) so we can establish rivalries but the main rivalry should be against BYU. AAC might accept this proposition since we are not full members with them and will get a lesser piece of the pie (hopefully we could add our Olympic sports as affiliates since football produce the most money. We can help our independent brothers out with games for football (may make deals for other sports games *cough* *UCONN* *cough* *BYU*). We are blessed with money and we get a little compensation from being affiliates for other sports. Football will receive a pretty strong and at times reasonable schedule. Please add anything else if needed or more realistic/reasonable on my list lol.

If we had a Notre Dame relationship with the AAC, I think that would be the best thing for us short of having a P5 or Big East membership. Having all sports but football in the American would boost all of them while playing 4 (give or take) football games against the AAC gives us the freedom to continue scheduling P5 schools at our current rate.

Again, this is extremely unlikely but our football program and men's basketball program are moving in the direction of getting us in the conversation dor the American's open spot.

RE: Your Dream Football Schedule
These conference [presidents and commisioner] do not like us (muost of us like to pretend it was only because of Jr. which is not true; was just more fuel to a big blaze that was already there). That's why I proposed being associates so that we can make deals for our sports program but not let the presidents of AAC schools believe that we are full members with them. That's just the social climate that we live in and we continue to be on the outside looking in because of our mission.
