Second best is the 2006 win over SMU that put us into a bowl for the first time in decades.

Agreed on June 23, 2003.

I may never forget being in the front row of the MOB for that SMU game and seeing Bencil Smith's game-clinching interception happen right in front of me. Until that moment I'll admit that I didn't quite believe the bowl berth would actually happen. Fool me a hundred times, etc.

Compared to actually winning a bowl berth, the actual bowl was very anticlimactic.

The Rice web sites says that the game against TSU has been cancelled due to COVID issues with TSU.

I guess that is a good reason for no fans.

Second week in a row that the WBB's scheduled opponent canceled on us due to COVID. Unfortunately, this time it likely too late in the week to find someone in Texas to reschedue. Tough break for the women just as they were building fluidity and momentum. Let's hope they don't take a step back due to rust.

Sunday evening, after the MBB vs. New Mexico game at Tudor....or Sunday at either UH or Sam? Awfully short notice, however. The men had all week to find a replacement.

“Fool me a hundred times...”
it may have been literally as many as 100 games that Rice played and lost between 1964-2006 that *could* have put us in a bowl. 50 at the very least...

That SMU game was one of my top memories too.

Doubt it will be much different when they meet in Lubbock.

RE: WBB at Texas Tech
HUGE game today vs. the #10-ranked Aggies in College Station. IMO, the biggest challenge will be stopping the Aggies drives to the basket (which is the primary source of offense) without getting in early foul trouble. They are not a particularly tall team, but will we be able to get the ball in to Nancy in the low post. Hitting some early 3s would certainly help.
