At the end of the day, neither of these sports are truly 'revenue generating' and as long as they graduate their players and have their players stay out of trouble, I am pretty sure the administration will be happy.

I do think that McFerrin really benefited from having the total trainwreck that was Blair Savage-Landsen as her predecessor.

Heck, didn't the 'Rifle' coach at U of M stay for something like 25 years?

I USED to attend WBB games when Joye Lee was coach and Elma Roane was rocking (Tamika Whitmore was a force). Alas, that was pre-Grizz and think about this: back in 2000, the Women's bb score had a front page sports headline AND a CA writer assigned to cover the game!

Now, with the Grizz and the consolidation in the newspaper industry, the women's score/recap is written pretty much by a computer/Learfield sports/in the cloud.

If nobody cares, nobody gets fired. Just don't bring embarrassment to the University and Melissa does fine there.

Interestingly her overall record going into this season at Memphis was 189-189. Conference record 90-108.

#3 in wins in school history. Played UConn within 12 points at the fieldhouse last year.

Unless there is a scandal she is safe until she decides to retire. She is pushing 60 according to her bio.

It’s embarrassing that she is still at the helm. Justifying it by saying WBB is a non-revenue generating sport is also sad.

So much potential with that program especially with UConn out of the mix. Her lack is postseason APPEARANCES is unacceptable. Let alone that abysmal conference record

With the money she is making - makes sense to clean house and start over with a young and upcoming coach/staff.

Don’t even get me started on her contract extension. The last laughable chapter in the Bowen era. What a joke
