Huskies Win ! NIU v EIU Game 1 Compass Challenge
EIU is hitting threes because they set up and pass until they can get it to an open player. NIU just shooting threes any which way, With Chelby Koker doing all the work. So 3 1/2 minutes left in Q1 and it's 19-4 EIU. Asst. Coach Tandez (who calls plays) also has Mikayla Brandon and Riley Blackwell -- two of NIU's 6-foot-+ players, -- shooting threes ... and missing.

If Northern doesn't get some coordination on offense we're looking at Season Disaster #2. At least is A'Jah Davis back.

End of Q1 EIU 22-14. Northern finally hit some 3s.
------------------------
4:40 left in the half. eiu 29-17.

Men's BB, women's BB, football.....we're really striking it big, aren't we? Maybe if we can set up a women's football team, we'd have some success. Even if not, at least it would be pleasant to watch.

End of first half. EIU 33-27. Ironically, Koker came out and NIU went on a 7-0 run. Northern put its "bigs" on the corners to cut off those EIU threes. Appeared to work. Finally ... strategy! Game not out of reach.

GO HUSKIES!

Just checked in—-and good to see Ajah got on the court.....and even better five minutes without committing a foul. Obviously not a lot of time through two and a half quarters but good to see the name in the boxscore.

WOW! Mark that down as the best quarter they play all year——-EIGHT OF NINE three pointers and 34 points. Tab that one—-won’t have another like that all season.
