2021 QB
McKenzie Milton has entered the transfer portal.

Wouldn't it be a hoot if he transferred here, and we beat UCF in their house with Milton as our QB?

I'm sad that Alex Smith is playing and I will be sad if Milton plays. Obviously, knowing the risks they are free to live their lives as they see fit; but I can't imagine the heightened risk of losing a leg, being anywhere near worth it.

I mean, he hasn't played in 2+ years and almost had his leg amputated. He wasn't good enough to beat out Gabriel and is likely a shell of what he was.

He only got clearance to practice in full pads a few weeks ago, so saying that Gabriel beat him out is a false statement. We don't know how good he is now compared to how good he was before.

We know that he had an injury that more often than not leads to amputation; that he hasn't played in 2 years, and that if he has any kind of significant injury, he will probably have to have his leg amputated.

It's obviously none of my business, but IMO, like Alex Smith, he shouldn't be playing football.

I was very happy to see him take the coin toss in our game here this year. I would love to have him on our team.

Fair enough.

Let me rephrase.

He is leaving a program he has been a part of to play somewhere else because the writing is on the wall that he will not supplant Gabriel.

I think the preferable options would be Brady White for another year, although I think Brady will be ready to move on with his life. He's 24 years old and it's not like we are expecting to have a team like we had last year that went 11-2 and played in the Cotton Bowl. I'm a little surprised he opted to play again this year.

RE: 2021 QB
If Milton wants to transfer and play again, I personally don't see him making a move to another AAC team. Instead of a lateral move, I would expect him to look for a P-5 home, similar to the way King left Houston for Miami.

The natural move would be to play for Scott Frost at Nebraska.

I don't agree. If he can run at all he is as fast as Gabriel. He is a much better passer and for sure is 10X smarter. If I had to bet money I would say that he is leaving out of consideration for Gabriel and the program.

I don't think it's good for the program overall if he takes over for one season. It sucks for Gabriel to be on the bench. He would probably transfer out and leave them with nobody in 2022 or Milton would be on the bench.

I’d take a flyer on him for sure. I’m sure he has lost a step speed wise but he has a good arm and is smart. Best case scenario you plug him in and we keep rolling worst case you’ve got another coach in the QB room.

He would have to be a total scumbag to sign with us. It would be a total dick move on his part. Not quite as bad as Pitino going to Loserville, but almost.

He would be crazy to go to Nebraska, the same way that White would be crazy to go to FSU. Both programs are lousy and have lousy offenses.

I would never want him, but he would be a really good fit here. We have quarterbacks with potential, but none of them are a sure thing. He would either start or would be able to mentor the starter. The competition wouldn't potentially be too difficult and we are as sure a thing as there is in college football offensively.

Yes, we are #14 in total offense in the NCAA and in a horrible one game slump.
