It's nice to see Tarleton signing up all the "SCRUBS" from the JUCOS. Giving guys who averaged 1 PPG a chance at the D-1 level. Just awesome. Congrats!

Lateral or upgrade?

UTA has been a .500 team the last 3 years. Really not that much of an upgrade.

That's true. But the other way to look at it is UTRGV playing UTA; it's not hopeless but they'd be a clear favorite.

Leaving aside the teams, Levi would probably think DFW is an upgrade over the valley, if nothing else it's closer to his hometown in Kileen.

Oh wow, I didn't know he was from Killeen, I'm not too far from there. They typically have some good basketball schools.

But as for UTA, I might be biased since they're in Sun Belt, but I think that they're perceived as a pretty solid mid major. They've been kind of down though ever since their controversial firing of Scott Cross. Before that he had them taking down teams like UT, Ohio State, and St. Marys and they were consistently at the top of the SBC.

I think the theory is a juco player is more likely to stay because he'll most likely only have one more season by the time he realizes what its like to play for an addict.

I'm not sure I'd play tit for tat about coaches if I'm a NMSU fan.

I don't care what you would do. Tell you this, when ours is a felon and just out of rehab, I may rethink my position. Until then, tough sh$t. Go pray for me in whatever church it is that your company is sponsored by.

NMSU loses any player to the transfer portal. Only three underclassmen remain from the 2020-21 roster.

Saw on Twitter, Clashon Gaffney is transferring to A&M Commerce. I hope this works out for him.

So now we're down to press releases bragging about players merely not leaving.

I thought the same thing. But it does put an end to speculation and ambiguity at least.

You would have to think that there isn't going to be a home for all the transfers to land at. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of them land at the D-2 level.

Evan Gilyard now has entered the portal. I sure hope Jans doesn't put all his eggs in Nate Pryor's basket....

RE: WAC Transfers
That is a weird one to me. I thought if anything Gilyard would just leave the college ranks completely. I really didn’t see him transferring. He’s a steady PG though. Sucks to lose him. But good look to him wherever he lands.

Right now, NMSU has three players who could possibly play point guard; Nate Pryor, Mario McKinney, and Gerald Doakes but with three vacant scholarships remaining to fill, I think Jans will be actively looking for an experienced point guard.

Rice has played PG for NMSU. Played quite a bit his sophomore year and some last year. Doakes has never played PG for NMSU and is not listed as a PG.
