Kent beat Duquesne 73-66 today. Kent was up big in the 1st half but Duquesne cut the lead to 2 twice, but couldn't ever take the lead. Kent shot 54% from 3.

CMU beat Loyola Chicago 73-64

Ohio lost to West Virginia 88-79

EMU beat Tarelton (who?) 65-59

RE: WBB: News/Scores About MAC Teams and UT Opponents 2020-21
I just watched Bowling Green completely destroy Ball State 89 to 55 on Ball State's floor. This is a Ball State team which has nearly all of the players back which finished 2nd in the MAC last year and added two significant transfers. They had 29 turnovers against BGSUs defense. And BGSU had 19 and 18 points from two freshmen. They have a player who led the nation in 3 pt percentage last year. She doesn't start. Had 15 today. And last year's 6-2 post player (Perry) who was honorable mention all MAC last year doesn't start either. Anyone who doesn't think BGSU is for real is going to be surprised at what they will do. I predict they will be in the top 4 teams in the league this year. And will be interesting to see what this awful looking Ball State team does against UT on Wednesday.

RE: WBB: News/Scores About MAC Teams and UT Opponents 2020-21
These early season wins are going to prove to be important down the road. Only the Top 8 teams make the MAC Tournament and if the Lady Rockets find themselves in Cleveland - there is not going to be one team that is going to want to play them after knocking off CMU last year.

One thing to watch as the season goes on - we have not shot the ball well from the free throw line in 5 of the 7 games. We were 9-16 against Kent State and lost by 4. They need to improve this statistic immediately in January so that it is not a conversation piece in February and March.

Two tough road games next week (Ball State and Ohio) before a game we should win at home against WMU and then our first match up with BGSU on 1/16. The next two weeks should give us a good sense of where we rank in the league if we are able to beat the teams we are supposed to.

Dayton beat Duquesne badly yesterday, 64-48

In the game Duquesne's Amanda Kalin (who scored 32 against UT) suffered a non-contact injury late in the first half that looked really bad. Dribbling up court, planted and her knee just buckled. I assume she is out for a long time. Hope she has a good recovery. So, won't be able to use the UT win against them as any kind of yardstick this season.

Kent is leading Ball State by 7 at the half.
Kent is without their head coach who tested positive for COVID. Also in the 2nd quarter, Ball State's PG Booker had to be helped to the locker room after a collision. They were looking at her knee. That's a huge loss for BSU if she is out for a while.

NIU is leading BG by 10 at the half, despite having 13 turnovers.

Ball State lost to BGSU by 34, then beat Toledo by 15 and then loses to Kent. This Ball State team finished 2nd in the league last year and has nearly everyone back. They are under performing so far this year.

BSU and Ohio going to OT. This despite BSU having committed 31 turnovers.

BSU playing without their PG who was injured last game, and lost another player in this one in what looked like a potentially bad lower leg injury.

Ball State beats OU. 30 buckets, and 35 turnovers. Crazy. Out of 9 BSU players who saw the floor, only 1 had more baskets than turnovers.

Final from DeKalb: NIU 104 CMU 73.

Watched the 2nd half and it was complete domination. NIU had now knocked of 2 straight undefeated teams. That UT win over NIU looks a lot better now.

The Northern game was the one where Wiard scored 42 points including 16/25 field goals 64% and 7 of 10 from 3 pointers. That was an enormous performance which was almost impossible for Northern to overcome. And Northern only lost that game by 3 points. And Wiard has scored 161 points in 10 games. If you take out the 42 point game she is averaging 13 points/game in the other 9 games. So that reaffirms how spectacular her performance against Northern Illinois was.

EMU beat CMU 70-67. That's 3 straight losses for CMU. I wonder if the rest of the MAC has caught up with them 03-razz

Western got their first win beating (also winless) Miami 70-54

OU trailed the whole game, but came back in the end to beat WMU.
OU was without Erica Johnson who was out, reportedly with a concussion. They also lost Peyton Guice to a leg injury during the game, that was reported to look bad.

BSU beat EMU by 4.

BG beat Miami by 30+
