The potential pathway for FAU or Charlotte to win the East division
With CUSA doing the right thing, and re-scheduling so many late games, there is actually a potential path for FAU or Charlotte to win the East division.

Here's how.

1) CUSA would need to cancel, or FIU would need to cancel the Marshall @ FIU December 12th game in enough time to allow Charlotte to play @ Marshall on the same date. So let's say that happens, and it's Charlotte @ Marshall on December 12th. (Could actually be a realistic outcome)

2) Marshall loses to Rice at home this weekend Saturday December 5th.

Or

The Rice @ Marshall game is cancelled (actually not an unrealistic scenario either)

3) Charlotte beats WKU at home (possible)

Now, if all that happens, things get interesting indeed.

For Charlotte to win the East at this point, they need:
1) Southern Miss to beat FAU on December 10. If the FAU @ Southern Miss game is canceled, Charlotte cannot win the East, they need a Southern Miss win.
2) Charlotte beats Marshall in Huntington December 12th

For FAU to win the East at this point, they need to beat Southern Miss AND have Rice beat Marshall. If the Rice games simply cancels, FAU would be mathematically eliminated.

CRAZY!

So basically, if Rice upsets Marshall, and CUSA schedules Charlotte @ Marshall, all hell breaks loose.

Riley, I am going to steal your explanation post above and put it on NinerNation.Net. I can't imagine it happening, but it would be crazy!

Pretty sure that’s incorrect.

Charlotte beats WKU
Rice at Marshall cancelled
FAU beats Southern Miss
Charlotte beats Marshall

Results in...

FAU 5-1
Marshall 4-1
Charlotte 4-1

FAU wins division. QED.

Yeah coach, I think you're right. It just proves that if we lose to Rice, or if that game gets canceled on Saturday, and CUSA can schedule us against Charlotte...

All hell will break loose.

Let's go!

That's cool, but Charlotte posters, continue to post on here too I'd love to hear y'all's opinion on all of this.

Hopefully we can take care of business and none of this matters, but it does show the potential for chaos...

I’ll take it but IMO Marshall should need to lose twice for the good guys to win the division and most likely the conference. Could you lose to Rice, yup that is something I could see happening (not because Marshall should but because it’s something Doc does every year) but losing to the kitties no way.

This is fun to think about but will never happen. At this point I just want to see the Niners take to the field to play a freaking game.

If Marshall loses to Rice they don’t deserve the title.

They are awful.
