I would think guys who are projected to be undrafted may stick around. I haven't heard much about Joel Dublanko's NFL prospects, so he is one who comes to mind.

Only names consistently on scout boards among seniors are Wiggins and Ponder (Ponder is a 7th/UDFA on most of them), Bryant has shown up very rarely but he'll likely end up an UDFA as well. Sanders, Ridder, and Hudson are all mentioned as Day 2 guys (2-4th Rounders) too, but it's unsure if they'll go

As I've said on here numerous times, Dublanko is likely too slow to make an impact in the NFL as he can't even stay on the field in passing downs in college. Of the seniors not named, the only other one I could see getting a thorough look would be Harper, but that's a big question mark on a lot of fronts.

If you do not get drafted, sticking around a year that lets you complete a degree or do masters work seems like a good gig. Take a light load like 12 credits and play a game you love. Now if you have a solid NFL or real job say goodbye.

One thing to keep in mind is guys Tucky, Dublanko, Brown and Curtis are already 5th year guys. 2021 would be their 6th year in college and I imagine they will be 23-24 years old. At some point guys are ready to move on with their lives, whether it involves football or not. Don't know their personal situations, but pretty convinced one of the motivations for Warren last year was he had his second child. Time to move on and start making money to support the family.

He's also the most likely to improve his stock if he comes back - crazy that the dude just started playing college football. On the DL side, we're fortunate to have a transfer who might be All-AAC on day on. So, yes, we're loaded next year.

Is there list of people who walked somewhere?

You also have to be careful keeping too many and stunting the growth of some of the young recruits. I would be surprised if we allow everyone that doesn’t have NFL potential to return.

RE: 2021 Bearcats Football
Normally I'd be worried but if you look at our recruiting, in theory these guys should be replaceable. I don't take individual recruiting rankings to heart usually but think trends are generally pretty safe to look at. IE if like Mick every guy you bring in is a project recruit, you're gonna miss on some even if you beat the average. Our current starters on D were ranked on 24/7:

Myjai - 85
Bryant - 81.8
White - 86.6
Wiggins - 85
Pitts - 80
Ponder - 79
Dublanko 86
Brooks - 77
Forrest 79

Rough average looks to be around 81/82. They are going to be replaced almost entirely with kids that are all closer to the Wiggins/Myjai 85/86 range with the occasional Justin Harris at 86 or Jaheim Thomas at 89 or Wodtly at 87. That 2020 class is gonna start shining through sooner rather than later and you figure we've had at least one true freshman play each season in the last few (Ahmad Gardner / Jake Refro) and those spots will get filled.

Since Fickell has been here, working backwards our average recruit ranking has been:
21 class - 85.25
20 - 85.31
19 - 84.56
18 - 84.43
17 - 82.70
Tubb's last season was 81.97 with the two bells of the ball being Doaks and Wiggins.

We will once again compete for the AAC championship and have a chance at a special season, depending on how some of the young guys pan out and what some of the Juniors who could be drafted end up deciding like Hudson, Sanders, etc...

The staff has us in a position where even in down years we will be competing for the conference chip IMO.

If a player or two leaves early then it may open up the opportunity to add another transfer to help on the D-Line. We were all worried about the linebackers comin into the season, and they have played well. I have no reason to doubt the next guys in on the D-line will do just as well.

This is something I keep going back to. The average quality of recruits has increased each year and are significantly better than it was just a few years ago. As long as we continue player development we shouldn’t see a drop off and it’s likely we see more players in the Whyle, Sanders, etc... mold and transfers in the Hudson, Ford, etc... mold. The future is bright for the Bearcats!

I don't know that there is. I only mention Beavers because he was specifically highlighted for not having walked out with the other seniors.

Barring injury, Whyle will develop into an NFL TE. He will be our 5th in the last 20 years or so. If you want to be a pro TE this is the place to go. It’s incredible we’re developing that kind of reputation. When I was in school 30 years ago I couldn’t have dreamed of this.

All true, and I'd also add that we don't seem to be losing guys at the rate we did under Tubs. There were always a handful each year who just seemed to disappear from the roster. Fickell has nailed it with talent, with depth, and with roster consistency.

While we may soon have that perception, we're really holding onto one TE (Kelce) as the lynchpin with one other (Celek) who hasn't played in awhile...Deguara is an unknown and Annen and Robinson both were practice squad guys.

Iowa is and will always be TEU and it's not close in my opinion. There are three current NFL starters in Kittle, Fant, and Hockenson (who also happened to be the last 3 TEs on Iowa's roster) and they've got Dallas Clarke, Scott Chandler, Tony Moeaki, Brandon Myers, and CJ Fiedorowicz who all started at TE in the NFL since 2013. Hell, they haven't gone a season since 2014 without at least 3 starting NFL TEs being former Iowa Hawkeyes.

Agreed, and I genuinely don't think there will be "down" years with this staff they way they've recruited and coached so far. The only "down" year I could see would be if we, by some unknown miracle, ended up in a P5 conference and had a less than stellar record that first year.

Whyle looks the NFL part thus far. But, what about Leonard Taylor? He's showing some flashes of being a good one. If these two dudes make an NFL roster and contribute along with the BEST TE IN THE NFL then we're TEU2 IMO.

Sanders was just named the 2nd biggest "Draft Riser" this season by CBS Sports...I'm going to guess if he gets a 3rd or better grade, he'll be gone.

I've pretty much got it in my mind that he's gone. That way, if he does come back, it will be a welcome surprise. I thought Hudson would be in the same boat, but I haven't heard a ton of draft buzz about him. He might be well served having another year of film to move up in the draft.

The way we've been recruiting and developing defensive linemen, I think we'll be strong there either way. But Sanders is the difference between our defensive line being good and great.

As I was at the stadium watching the celebration ceremony, I couldn't get out of my mind that Mike Warren should have been there too. He was a big part of the rise. It didn't feel right that he wasn't dressed next to the rest of the guys.

Exactly right. Defensive lineman will always be a strength of the program but the special edge rusher makes you elite. I'd expect Myjai to leave, if he returns watch out.
