SIUe We are 9 pt favorites.
If COVID is a factor, the game should have been cancelled or postponed. It’s happening all over, so why not do it? Like the football team, looks like this will be a practice season. With both teams together, we may be able to count all wins on one hand - if we’re lucky. By the way, look out for Chicago State! Let’s hope our loss to the Cougars will be less than 20 points.

If this is true, why not let us know who will not be playing before the game starts. This is very valuable information for the folks who have a wager on the game.

Not only that, but inform the fans so they will be more understanding and less critical. I realize there are HIPAA restrictions, but they don’t need to provide names. Plus, if there are players with COVID, the others have been exposed. There is also the risk of passing it to the other team.

Keep in mind SIUE was missing a 6’10” starter as well.

RE: SIUe We are 9 pt favorites.
Much as I love our Huskies, honesty is still the best policy. So ... when it comes to athletics, NIU is sometimes a public university in name only.

That's why a lot of our "announcement" threads on this board comes from outside sources (e.g., DePaul mbb canceling, SIU wbb out of the Compass challenge, numerous schedule changes, etc.).

As for COVID issues, why not just say what everybody else says ... "due to COVID, we have had to ...?" No names, no numbers, just that. Because they don't have to, that's why. Telling the fans/supporters anything is last on the to-do list, if at all.

But ... supporting the Huskies is in the blood, so to speak. So we put one paw in front of the other and keep on keeping on.

Go Huskies!

Ps. We are in year 10 of MM's first season (based on performance in two games). His second season begins with the (belated) announcement of a contract extension.

that would be criminal.

Ding ding ding, we got a winner post. Pure incompetence on display at least 2 levels - coaching and AD.

Currently watching the press conference.

Some news. Zaire Mateen has opted out of the season.

So, there's a senior with experience who won't be on the floor at all this year.

Montgomery also noted that he hopes to have Scott back "next week" so I'm guessing he won't be making the trip to Pittsburgh. They aren't going to say, but I assume he's one of the guys with covid.

"maybe tapping in to the past with the Mullins hire was a good move."

Not sure why discussing coach of SIU. Barone is coach of SIUe since March 2019 so he inherited his players.
Monty has zero freshman. Recruits only out of JUCO! Cole should have gone to JUCO - he is getting no development (playing time) at NIU - what a waste.
Adong (announcers were pronouncing his name as McCoy?), our only center, had 4 points and ONE rebound in 22 minutes!!! Which roughly corresponds with his JUCO scoring stats. What was he doing for 22 minutes??? 1-2 FG..; apparently getting stuffed under the basket doesn't count as a FG attempt cause I saw him get stuffed at least twice and I wasn't keeping score!
Oh, one question I do have for rabid dog fans is when your team is up by 22 points in the 2nd half and lose the game does that loss fall 100% on the coach?

For Mateen or Scott?

Not sure why I was talking about Mullins? Because I was talking about both SIU basketball programs.

Wow...

Illinois State beat Greenville University (DIII) last night 177-101.

And the game did not go into any overtimes.

I have no idea how that is even possible.

STF will be calling the AD of Greenville University this morning to schedule a game for next year or if they have a cancellation this year.

As long as he doesn't call the AD of Flagler College. They put a whoopin' on Central Michigan last night beating them by 20.

Monty should just let Marshawn Wilson play. We would win every game!

Imagine this lineup.

Jake Anderson
Marshawn Wilson
Tim Toler
Nate Rucker
Abdel Nader

Sixth man is Mike DiNunio

They play at an absolute frenetic pace, which works against their typical DIII opponents. However, when they move up to play a DI team, lets just say it works less well. They typically get beat by similar scores when playing DI competition, usually losing by 60 to 70 points. They are averaging 96 points a game so far this season against DI teams. The entire school is only 600 students.

They are 0-4 and have given up 177, 174, 173, and 138 points.

Last year they AVERAGED 136.6 points per game and went 14-13.

Greenville employs a full court press from start to finish, and their goal is to shoot a lot of 3's and score as quickly as possible. ISU in beating their press converted 34 layups and 27 dunks, and made 62 of 67 two point shots. Greenville took 108 shots in the game (2.7 per minute) of which 55 were 3 pointers. It's an interesting philosophy of play. Doesn't fare well against D1 opponents, but against similar talent, I'm sure it would be a blast to watch.

Gosh, I hope not! The Huskies would probably lose 101-58.
