Roughly 50 of 100 of the ESPN 2022 top-100 still uncommitted and 59 of 60 of the ESPN 2023 top-60. Good to see the staff extending a first offer, and plenty of opportunity to make some splashes in the coming classes.

That said, kind of surprised at the lack of (public movement) with respect to next year's roster. Still only seven players enrolled and very little smoke around the portal and the HS recruiting trail.

Looks like McLeod visited us along with Grand Canyon and SMU. 2022 guard.

From Edmonds' latest tweet, I'm assuming there have been other visitors as well. But nothing I can find on Twitter.

Looks like the staff's second offer is to 2022 G Caroline Lyles. Out of Arkansas. Looks like she's visited/been offered by SMU, MTSU, Belmont, UT Martin, Wofford, and a few others. Took an unofficial visit to Arkansas.

RE: [split] Women's Basketball Recruiting Thread 2021
Langley just signed up Baylor's starting guard, Tiffany Oliver, as a transfer. So, she's retained Washington's top 2 players (who were both in transfer portal), picked up Rice's top two players (Mulkey, Schwartz) and now one of Baylor's starters.

I'm delighted Edmonds is aggressively working the class of 2022 recruits, but I wish she'd focus a bit on our 2021 roster, which right now is not only depleted, but lacks the talent to win even 10 games.

While at Rice, Langley tried, but was unable to land any of the very top high school recruits. She left Rice at the very best time for the benefit of her own career.

Rice needs to pay Power 5 salaries or they will continue to loose their best coaching staff. I know this will never happen.

Agree, and posted similarly that w the sisters and Mulkey gone, and no new impact transfers, the timing was right for her career.

That's assuming she succeeds at Washington. Fred Goldsmith probably could have said the same when he went to Duke, and four years later he never coached at the D1 level again. Cristy McKinney also was a complete flop at Clemson.

The track record for coaches leaving Rice for another D1 job is not good. About the only recent one who has done okay is Mike Rhoades (I think - I'm probably missing someone who will quickly be pointed out to me).

re: McKinney. I think she ended her career as an assistant at tiny Elon after a horrible run at Clemson.

I think Langley will learn quickly that the PAC 12 is not CUSA.

RE: [split] Women's Basketball Recruiting Thread 2021
Langley will be fine. Do not be surprised when she starts luring top-50 recruits to Washington. She is extraordinarily good at building relationships with players.

As for Edmonds and Rice recruiting, we're really in need of a splash. Just not a good few months for the program obviously. It feels like we're back to square one. Haven't landed any transfers or recruits with a roster of only 7 players. The first few 2022 targets/offers have been kind of underwhelming. And that's not a slight against any of the recruits. They could all turn out to be superstars. It just feels like the program needs a jolt, one that you'd get from an impact transfer or interest from a highly-regarded recruit, and offers out to players with primarily mid-major interest don't really move the needle (unfairly or not).

This is of course why Edmonds' job is going to be hard, because expectations like those above are probably entirely unrealistic. But that's what happens when you inherit a program on the ascendency.

Since you said “done okay”, there’s the Toad. He’s currently making 760k coaching a 0.500 team.

New offer out to 2023 Laci Steele. Offers from Auburn, Oklahoma, UNLV, Rutgers, Tulsa, and others. Out of Oklahoma. She's somebody that the old staff also had interest in.

Yeah Graham is the obvious one I forgot. He's 100-65 as a college head coach in 13 seasons at five different schools. But I almost don't think he counts since he only stayed one year at Rice.

I don't think he counts since he was offered primarily on what he had done at Tulsa, not on what he had done at Rice.

Big offer out to 2022 Wing Gabriela Jaquez. Brother of UCLA star Jaime Jaquez. 4-star and #63 player in the 2022 class. Ridiculous scorer. Scored 52 in a game last month. No clue if we'd be able to convince her to leave the west coast, but I'm pretty sure Grant was recruiting her while she was at San Diego State.

Looks like Madison Cockrell took an unofficial visit. 2022 guard out of Texas. Plays (I think) on the same AAU team as McLeod. PG who's a pretty tenacious defender but can score a bit. Can't find much in the way of offers apart from Lamar.
