CFP predictions 2020 Week 2
Alright you all know the drill make a prediction.

I called BYU being lower than many thought last week. They fall another spot this week.

Iowa makes an unworthy jump from their win over Nebraska (I have no idea why that would happen 07-coffee3 )

Another unexpected p5 jumps in. Probably Washington? Texas just holds on with 3 losses.

Edit: Bonus 1 loss NW stays in front of BYU, gets a lot of coverage over how BYU is treated different then NW.

Still holding out hope for that conference championship game I see.

The committee in the past has shown they will bend the AP/Coaches poll to theirs not the other way around. UCF proved that and this year we already see an ignored Iowa show up in the top 25s. Not sure that it won't work the opposite with the Committee digging their heels in, SDSU losing to Colorado hurts them.

I wonder how hard BYU is trying to line up a game with UCF or another strong program.

My guess is they're calling up everyone. If a meaningful game was going to jump onto their schedule it would of happened by now. I do think this year is eye opening for them as far as where their ceiling is with an indy schedule compared to an AAC schedule. And before everyone jumps in with the Covid excuses our conference had to deal with those too. BYU's P5's are usually Pac 12 teams and they're continuing their fall from grace.

If the AAC doesn't get poached and lose our top tier teams I believe we will continue our rise and be included in the next CFP contract. Especially with our conf champs continuing to knock on the door of the CFP the NY6 access bowl wont want "highest ranked conf champ from G5" they'll want another P6 team.

I think BYU is rethinking things because of the rankings but I don't think it is because of the reason that their schedule is limiting them. As you point out they often play PAC teams. Their argument will be look how high ranked Oregon and USC got on two or three PAC games. If they kept the best of their current schedule and flipped the worst for three or four PAC teams they would be ranked higher.

What is going to make BYU seriously consider an AAC move is that they can come to the conference (navy and houston are probably their 2nd and 3rd best opponents) slap in three or four P5's and even if they get upset pick up a NY6 bowl. If they cruise (which they will expect to do) they can coast into a play off spot. Similar to why Texas and OU won't leave the Big XII, BYU will look at us as a cupcake they can snack on pick off a few p5s and be talked about as a play off team. This means they would have an easier path to the play off than Utah and that would soothe their pride. That they would continue to play Utah and actually use a victory over them to get the play off spot would be a wet dream for them.

The fact they might make a small amount more is just icing. The key is when they talk to ESPN does ESPN say this is a fluke year? Do they indicate that BYU would make the AAC even more competitive for a spot similar to how ND is helping the ACC this year but on a smaller scale?

This is a no brainer except for BYU's pride. Cincy getting into serious position to get a play off spot, well that changes things for them, that means that the AAC would have one play off to the PAC's two and the most recent one. That is a big deal in perception

If only our commissioner had started a P6 campaign back in 2016 with that strategic goal.

Oh wait, that's exactly what Aresco did.

Ok. Who jumps Cincinnati?
Northwestern is out.
A two loss Georgia or 2 loss Oklahoma?
A Miami team that has been off for 2 straight weeks?
Indiana all the way up from #12 for beating Maryland while losing their starting QB for the year?

Don’t see UC dropping for no other reason than there is really nobody to move up past them.

Neither Miami nor Cincinnati have played since last Tuesday. Was their off week more impressive than UC’s?

No way a 2 loss team is jumping an undefeated team they put at 7 in the initial ranking.

Like I said, there is really no one to jump UC right now. Top 7 will look the same.

Don't see how they could justify moving anyone above Cincy at #7. Don't see it, but then again I didn't see BYU at #14 last week.

I think Tulsa moves up one or two as well.

No change in the top 7. BYU just held on to stay in front of NW. Iowa on a 6 point win against a zero win Nebraska got bumped up five spots, while 2-1 Wisonson lurks just on the outside looking in. Could it be that the committee is ensuring it will have to be two highly ranked big ten teams playing in the championship game (they probably won't even be able to have)?

Oh and what's that they moved two loss Georgia, two loss Iowa St, and two loss Oklahoma into the top ten. Odd a Louisiana squad with only one loss to an unbeaten number 18 and a win over Iowa St at their place just sneaks in the rankings.

Of course they made sure not to leave the PAC hung out to dry, clearly they need enough teams ranked to push Washington or Oregon back into the playoff picture.

Bias? What bias.

Cincinnati has a shot.
First must win the Conference, then Notre Dame beats Clemson again, Alabama beats Florida handily, and it's Ohio State, A&M and Cincinnati for the last two spots. A&M has already lost to Alabama and OSU will have fewer games played. We'll see...

I think if Iowa State/Oklahoma win out and beat a Top 10 team to win the Big 12 they may leapfrog you guys. Iowa State is 9th right now and has WVU and 11 Oklahoma.

Somehow UNC with 3 losses and 0 wins over top 25 teams is ranked ahead of CC who is undefeated with a win over a ranked team (ULL, which should be higher as well with only one loss to CC & a win over #9 & 2-loss ISU).

With all the other illogical trash in there I missed that. They lost by two touchdowns and moved up the ranking two spots. How the f***?

Edit: with losses to .500 Virginia and a bad Florida St team. Seriously What in the Actual ****
