Atlanta Transit CEO Dies by Suicide After Stepping in Front of Train

Quote: MARTA CEO Jeffrey Parker, who led the public transit agency through an era of expansion and pandemic, died Friday night, the agency confirmed.

The agency said Parker died by suicide. An agency official confirmed he was struck by a train at the East Lake station. The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office said it could release no details of Parker’s death until its investigation is complete.

“The MARTA Board of Directors grieves the shocking death of our GM/CEO Jeff Parker who has died by suicide,” Chairwoman Rita Scott said in a statement Saturday. “He was an outstanding leader and steward of MARTA whose passing leaves us all heartbroken.

Parker, 56, had led MARTA for nearly four years. He oversaw its expansion plans in Atlanta and Clayton County and helped negotiate a new agreement among its member jurisdictions that paved the way for a 10-year sales tax extension.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp offered his prayers to Parker’s family.

Surely there is much more to this story. So, so sad for him and those he left behind.

Ralph Emery from "Nashville Now" that was broadcasted from 1983-1993 and shared his show with the puppet, Shotgun Red, passed away at the age of 88.

Dallas Frazier, Writer of ‘Elvira’ and So Many More, Has Died

"Elvira" is a song written and originally performed by Dallas Frazier in 1966. Though a minor hit for Frazier at the time of release, the song became a bigger and much more famous country and pop hit by The Oak Ridge Boys in 1981. "Elvira" is now considered one of the Oak Ridge Boys' signature songs.

Legendary Iowa space physicist Donald Gurnett dies at 81


1. Don Gurnett, project engineer for the Injun 3 spacecraft launched in 1962, points to the low frequency radio antenna on the first plasma wave instrument flown on a University of Iowa spacecraft. His involvement with this project changed the course of his career from engineering to physics.

Dumble built two or three amplifiers per year, primarily for celebrity musicians and studios. He priced them similarly to the used market to dissuade resale. Dumble serviced and refurbished his original amplifiers for a fee, and many players buy used Dumble amplifiers and had Dumble refurbish them.

Weena was irresistible. The character was beautiful, innocent, and had no guile. She was depicted as Eve, only without the conversation with the serpent and Wells juxtaposed this with the dissipated Morlocks which embodied total moral corruption, which of course is where we are headed. Yvette portrayed Weena in a most believable way.
