I believe we came back and matched LSU and added more money. Over 2 million a year. We were determined not to get outbid again (A&M Elko). The position is endowed now so that helps.

A contract of $2.5 million for four years for Freeman, from what has been reported.

The endowment at that rate won't last long, they will have to hit him up again. Get Mendoza to sponsor a position or two.

RE: Coaching changes 2020-21
I know it isn't technically a change, but hard to believe Harbaugh hasn't been mentioned.

I know the Ohio State twitter has had some fun "liking" this, but IMO Michigan made a good move extending Harbaugh for four years. First, Harbaugh has not been a BAD coach. He's a 9-10 win a game guy, way better than Hoke or RichRod were. I know that's not what Michigan expects, but still. And if his pay has been cut to $4 million a year down from $8 million, he's pretty much earning his pay at that level.

If Urban Meyer or Dabo Swinney were inquiring about the Michigan job, that would be one thing. But from all indications they are not, so Harbaugh is probably the best available option right now.

Agreed. I don't think any of the available candidates provided more value than what Harbaugh can right now. Since Lloyd Carr, Michigan has become a revolving door (not unlike USC post-Carroll or Texas post-Brown). Harbaugh is a Michigan man and is a strong football coach. I think too much blame is placed on UM unable to unseat OSU, when it is OSU that has been one of the nation's top elite teams.

He's also an Ohio native who's spent his whole coaching career in the Rust Belt. If I had to guess he's thinking long-term about a Big Ten head coaching job and wants to stay up north instead of hanging around the SEC. Not to mention that coaching under Brian Kelly probably has more stability than Ed Orgeron.

Bombshell, even though this has been rumored for weeks. UT has had a revolving door of football coaches and ADs since Fulmer stepped down in 2008.

Hugh Freeze has to be the immediate favorite.

https://footballscoop.com/news/tennessee...caa-probe/

Pruitt’s replacement will be the Volunteers’ ninth head football coach – full-time or interim – since the school fired Fulmer in 2008 as he program had dipped in 2005 and further receded by, at that time, Urban Meyer’s Florida program and Nick Saban’s burgeoning Alabama juggernaut.

After Tennessee had 16-consecutive winning seasons from 1989-2004, Tennessee as a program is four games under .500 at 78-82 since the onset of the ’08 season – and it is a once-unheard-of 32 games under .500 in SEC play – 37-69.

Wow.

Maybe Billy Napier to UT? He was born in Tennessee. If he never had an interest in Auburn, maybe he had a feeling Tennessee would open.

I don't think it's a premiere job at all in the SEC any longer. I don't know that it's a top half job any longer.

It is. You can turn the Tennessee program around and that'll make headlines. I'm not sure who they'll go after though. Try to lure Mike Gundy away again? Coach from Louisiana? Coach from Coastal Carolina? Doc Holliday? lol

It's at best the #5 job in the SEC- behind Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and LSU.

It's still a Top 25 job in all of College Football.
