At this point, if Marshall wins this week and clinches the East, it may be best to simply hope FIU cancels and allows the Herd to bubble up and try to stay healthy and available for the championship game. It would be terrible to go and play a then meaningless game against the program that's done the worst job at managing itself with the virus only to have our players possibly get exposed right before the championship. It would be different if either FIU or Charlotte had a chance to win the east or if an outcome would change the East result, but a Herd win vs Rice this weekend renders any matchup against these two COVID fumblers meaningless for a league title.

* Edit: With the UAB cancellation this weekend, a Herd win versus Rice would also now clinch homefield advantage for the title game, so that's not even in play for Dec. 11 if Herd wins this week.

FIU needs to shut down their program for the season and get people healthy. They have nothing to play for. UNCC needs to come to Huntington on the 12th. The league will tip toe through all this and nothing gets accomplished.

Seeing how Charlotte doesn't have any more scheduled games what needs to happen is CUSA tell FIU to shut it down and then send Charlotte to Huntington next Saturday.

I mean I'm good with clinching the EAST on Saturday, but we need all the games we can get for the CFP rankings.

Saturday’s FIU at Charlotte game has been canceled because of COVID issues at FIU, but Conference USA is trying to schedule another opponent for Charlotte, sources told @Stadium

It's WKU

I literally was about to ask that same question, it made too much sense to just go ahead and reschedule the WKU game. Good on everyone to get that game in, it should be a much more competitive game than FIU.

With the news that 6 FIU coaches, including Butch Davis, have just tested positive, it sort of puts them in the window of not even really being able to practice next week. Would seem that FIU is toast for the season.

I'm not entirely certain I'm on board with playing the Charlotte Petri Dishes unless there's real meaning to it. There's no down time between that week, the title game, and the bowl game this year - Marshall would have the league championship game and then a bowl game in the 2 weeks immediately following a potential Charlotte makeup. If Marshall beats Rice, it locks the East and homefield for the title game. If FIU cancels, bubble up (like UTSA is doing now) and go be sure to be ready for the title game rather than play a game that has a literal zero impact on the league standings.

And I also agree with others, I would really like to see a Charlotte at Marshall game next week rather than a known cancellation against FIU.

It was mentioned by Healy a week after we postponed the Middle Tenn. game that they probably would be our Dec 12th game, but nothing since so who knows.
