With a Marshall win vs. Rice, then Marshall seems to win the East with all possible scenarios...
* If no games are played on the 11th/12th, Marshall is outright winner.
* If Marshall wins on the 11th against anyone, Marshall is outright winner.
* If Marshall loses on the 11th to FIU, and FAU wins vs. Southern Miss, then Marshall and FAU are both 5-1 and Marshall wins head-to-head tiebreaker and Charlotte is out on percentage points (3-1 or at best 4-1).
* If Marshall loses on the 11th to FIU and FAU doesn't play or loses to Southern Miss, Marshall is winner by percentage points.
* If Marshall loses on the 11th to Charlotte, and FAU beats Southern Miss, then Marshall and FAU are 5-1, and Charlotte is 4-1 (if they beat FIU on 12/5) or 3-1 (if they don't play FIU on 12/5). Marshall and FAU advance on percentage points, and Marshall wins the FAU head-to-head tiebreaker.
I don't see any remaining scenario Marshall doesn't win the east win a win this weekend versus Rice, no matter if the league schedules Charlotte vs Marshall next weekend. Not playing the WKU game yesterday basically took away the possibility of Charlotte getting the number of games in to tie for the East. I just don't see Charlotte scheduling to play 3 football games in 7 days.
Yes, it's quite simple really if you distill it down to this.
If Marshall wins, there's no way for FAU to gain the extra two games to overtake Marshall.

Snowing in Lexington and Huntington tonight. Don't know if we'll have snow Saturday, but I think 30's and rain is the worst.

So, similar to 12/7/2013. And we know how that turned out.

Meh. The one difference you'll notice it's that there will be fans in the stadium this Saturday. I know you're not used to that and all....

I just hope we don't come out flat. I think Rice is better than their 1-2 record, I think they're more of a .500 team.
I hope we really make a statement. If we do win I hope we win by a ton, I don't think we will, but we definitely need a statement.
Leave no doubt.
With the weather being what it will be, I fear this feels like a sleepy 20-3 type win.

Local forecast is for dry conditions by game time. High around 42. Both WSAZ and WCHS saying rain should be done before the game starts. I’ll go with that.

I like our chances on Saturday. I just found out that Marshall is 606-0 all-time when scoring more points in a game than the opposition! Hard to argue against that!

Yes and if you can get the conference to give you the game at home again you may have a shot.
BTW, how many games has Rice won since that game in the last 7 seasons? Double digits or not?

Maybe Jerry Palm can decide again where he would rather the game be played.
One of the most blatant screw jobs a league has ever pulled on one of its own teams.

You guys act like the only reason you lost was the field.
I don’t know what city is 300 miles from Marshall, but that is how far it is to Dallas. It’s not like we dropped in for a cup of coffee and asked for a favor. If they had it wrong, you should have protested and demonstrated their error to them.
If somehow we win, I wonder what th excuse will be this time.

There’s the Rice Covid protocols again. Everyone probably had a row to themselves. But these conservative protocols are effective for the University.

Marshall takes a similar number, if not more, presently. I didn’t count last time I saw them but somewhere around 5-7 seems right.
We’re all doing our best.
