And now ... WBB takes a turn ... Compass Challenge pre-game notes
Tough season/week/everything for Huskies athletics. Now it's WBB's turn. Two tough games ahead, after a Nov. 25 home loss to IUPUI.
Summary of CC opponents ... at Charleston, Dec. 4-5 (and Dec. 6 EIU v WIU)
EIU (1-1) vs. NIU (0-1), tipoff Friday, Dec. 4, 3 p.m., ESPN+
Notes:
-- Beat UIC on Nov. 25 in season opener 82-71 at home. Led by Lariah Washington (18 pts.), and Abby Wahl and Morgan Litwiller (16 pts. each). Karle Pace had 12 and Taylor Steele had 10 ... 5 players scored in double figures. Wahl also had 21 rebounds (team total 52/18 off, 34 def). Note they got 62 of 82 points from 4 starters.
-- Lost at Minnesota 72-68 on Wednesday. Again, Washington led with 22 pts, followed by Wahl with 16 and Pace with 15. Litwiller had 8, so they got 61 of 68 pts. from 4 starters, again. Kira Arthofer had 10 assists. Three players in double figures and only lost by 4 to a Big 10 team on the road.
WIU (0-1) vs. NIU (?-?), tipoff Saturday, Dec. 5, 2 p.m., ESPN+
Notes:
-- Lost to Wisconsin 73-66 in Madison on Nov. 29. Got as close as 3 pts. down. Grace Gilmore led with 19 pts., Evan Zars had a double-double (13 pts, 17 rebs), and Danni Nichols had 12 pts. Western shot 42.2% overall, hit only 39.3% freethrows, and had 13 turnovers, 31 rebounds. Sort of interesting note: Western is a running team like NIU. Also, compare 3-pt. shooting: hit 4/24 from three for 18.7%; NIU hit 6/26 for 23.1% vs IUPUI. Could come down to who gets the 3-ptrs. to fall.
We need a win or two! Please! Let the Dogs bark at least once this week!
GO HUSKIES!!!!!
